Watch The New Music Video from Barbie: It Takes Two [EXCLUSIVE]
Screen Rant is happy to debut a brand new music video from the upcoming Netflix series, Barbie: It Takes Two. The new show is based on last year's animated movie musical, Barbie: Big City, Big Dreams, which is currently streaming on Netflix.
In Barbie: Big City, Big Dreams, Barbie moves from the sunny beaches of Malibu to New York City to attend an exclusive summer performing arts school, where she learns her roommate is another girl named Barbie. To avoid confusion, the two Barbies go by the monikers "Malibu" and "Brooklyn." As they fight for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform in the Spotlight Solo from Times Square, the fast friends learn that competition isn't only about winning; it's also about wanting to be your best, inspiring others, overcoming fears, and sharing the spotlight.
Barbie: It Takes Two will follow Malibu and Brooklyn as they strive for musical stardom at the prestigious Handler School of Performing Arts in New York City. The duo will chase their dreams and set their sights on conquering New York City, all while learning the meaning of friendship and empowerment, which is demonstrated in this exclusive music video for the song "Can't Stop U."
Barbie fans will have additional opportunities to explore Barbie: It Takes Two. Mattel has released a line of dolls and playsets inspired by the film, and the film's soundtrack will be available to download or stream at all music retailers on April 8. Additionally, you can play with Barbie "Brooklyn" Roberts in the Barbie DreamHouse Adventures app on the App Store or Google Play. The app allows Barbie users to decorate the Barbie Dreamhouse, dress up Barbie and her friends, bake along with Malibu, and much more. The Easter Dreamhouse update will feature an egg hunt, fresh decor items for spring, and new characters from Barbie: It Takes Two. Fans can also follow Barbie's vlogs on the official Barbie YouTube channel, where she chats directly with her audiences about everything that is going on in her life.
Since Barbie's debut in 1959, she has become a cultural icon and has developed into a positive role model for young girls. With an emphasis on female independence and equal opportunity career paths, along with a seemingly endless fashionable wardrobe, the Barbie brand has become a juggernaut for Mattel, reaching every corner of the marketing and retail worlds. A live-action feature film starring Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling and Alexandra Shipp, is currently in development from Warner Bros. In it, Barbie is expelled from 'Barbieland' for not being perfect enough and sets off on an adventure in the real world.
Barbie: it Takes Two debuts on Netflix on April 8, with additional episodes debuting in the fall of 2022.
