World Champs 2022 course details
Details finally released of the road and TT courses for the Wollongong championships this September.
First impression - no home cooking for the senior men, that's a lot of climbing when they have one of the fastest sprinters on the planet - 266km with just under 4000 ft of elevation.
The early climb of Mount Keira seems too early for a real test, will tire out the legs a bit for later. All the action will be on the city circuit and Mount Pleasant - not sure how pleasant it will be the 12th time up. Only a km long but average of near 8% - enough of a springboard for a late Ala-style attack, perhaps by the great man himself.
Looks like one for the usual Ardennes suspects - enough climbing for the GT guys like PogRog, not too much to eliminate the punchier classics stars such as Alaphilippe and Woods. A demon descender could do well - the climb tops out only 7km from the finish.
