House rocked by ‘explosion’ with grey smoke billowing from room as firefighters swamp residential street
A HOUSE caught fire after a huge explosion with grey smoke billowing from a room.
The property on a residential street filled with smoke as all the windows were blown out and glass was smashed all over the road.
A house caught fire after a “huge explosion”[/caption] The house was pictured with a huge hole[/caption]One witness of this evening’s blaze in Wythenshawe, Manchester, told the Manchester Evening News: “I was coming home from work and as the tram was getting to the stop, there was an almighty bang
“As I got off and looked at the house, there was instantly loads of smoke. All the windows were blown out and the glass was all over the road.
“I ran over and a neighbour was shouting the name of the man who lives there, to try and get an idea of if he was conscious and at home.
“Me and another gentleman tried to kick the door down but couldn’t get enough force to kick it in.”
Fire crews seem to be focusing their attention on one property in the street. Photos show a huge hole in the upstairs of the house in question.
As many as 30 firefighters have reportedly attended as well as up to 12 police cars.
Motorists have been told to avoid the area.
