Delétraz And Habsburg Complete Prema ELMS LMP2 Line-up
Louis Delétraz and Ferdinand Habsburg will join Juan Manuel Correa in the Prema LMP2 campaign for the 2022 European Le Mans Series.
Reigning ELMS champion Delétraz will contest a double LMP2 campaign under the PREMA banner, featuring both the FIA World Endurance Championship and the ELMS and returns to the ELMS as reigning Drivers’ Champion, winning the title in his debut ELMS season with Team WRT.
Habsburg was another title winner with WRT last season, this time though it was the FIA WEC Drivers’ Championship that fell to the Austrian who also took the title in the 2021 Asian le Mans Series (with G-Drive by ALgarve Pro, and the class win at Le Mans (again with WRT).
Correa, whose ELMS programme was announced in early February, will make his endurance racing debut. The 22-year-old Ecuadorian-American joined PREMA for his first steps in single-seater racing in 2016 before going on to race in the GP3 Series and FIA Formula 2 Championship.
The ELMS programme sits alongside Prema’s FIA WEC debut season, the team taking fourth in class at the opening round at Sebring.
The European Le Mans Series season will get underway with two days of official testing on the 11th and 12th of April at Circuit Paul Ricard. The opening race of the year, the 4 Hours of Le Castellet, will be held at the French Grand Prix circuit on the 17th of April.
Rene Rosin – Team Principal
“We are really looking forward to the start of the 2022 ELMS season with a young and talented driver line-up. We already had the chance to see Louis on track in testing and in WEC at Sebring, and he really impressed us. We also know Ferdinand’s potential as we have been competitors in the past, and the results of both speak for themselves. Together with JM, I think they form an outstanding trio. We cannot wait to see them race.”
Louis Delétraz
“I am delighted to race in the ELMS alongside FIA WEC with PREMA. My 2022 programme will be quite busy with IMSA, WEC, and ELMS, so doing two of them with the same team allows for better preparation and, in general, to understand where we are better in every aspect, especially ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. I am very happy to have Ferdinand and JM as teammates. It is a very young and strong line-up, in a new team. I look forward to what we can achieve as we have a common goal of doing well and winning as much as we can. I really thank the team for this opportunity.”
Ferdinand Habsburg
“I have always had a good relationship with this team, especially in my Formula 3 days, and I am super happy to be racing with them now. I really believe that we are strong, and can do a mega job in this ELMS campaign!”
