MICK SCHUMACHER’S shattered F1 car will cost a whopping $1MILLION to fix, according to his team boss.
The German crashed into the barriers during qualifying for the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix on Saturday.
He was driving at 170mph when he came off the track at the exit of Turn 12 on the Jeddah circuit.
Thankfully Schumacher – who was up to P8 in Q2 – walked away unharmed.
However, his vehicle was obliterated and broke in two, needing an entire rebuild job.
And Haas team principal Guenther Steiner reckons it will be an expensive one.

He said: “The chassis in itself doesn’t seem to be broken, the side impact structure… the engine also, I was told from Ferrari, seems to be okay, the battery pack as well, and then all the rest is broken.
“I think the cost is still pretty high because all the suspension is gone, except the front left. I think there’s still something on there.
“The rest is just like powder, carbon powder.
“I don’t know money-wise as yet but these cars, between gearbox, the whole bodywork’s gone, radiator… between half a million to a million (dollars – £381,000 to £762,000) I would say.”

Qualifying was red-flagged following the horror hit as Haas lost contact with their driver.
Schumacher, son of F1 icon Michael, was airlifted to hospital for check-ups and did miss Sunday’s race – but is “physically in a good condition”.
Steiner added: “I spoke with his mum and kept her updated.
“He has no injuries that you can see, but they want to do some scans to make sure there was no impact from the forces.
“The impact broke up the digital [technology] so we heard nothing [on the radio] but we got word he was conscious.”
Schumacher finished 11th in the season-opener in Bahrain before his accident in Saudi.

It has been a strong start to the season for Haas with Kevin Magnussen, in for the axed Nikita Mazepin at the final hour, securing P5 and P9 after the team got zero points in 2021.
And they will be hoping Schumacher can secure his first points in Formula One next time out at the Australian GP on April 10.
