3 transfer recommendations to help Dream Team managers master April

0

First and foremost, apologies for the issue affecting transfer availability this morning.

Thankfully, all has been resolved and Dream Team gaffers have been restocked with April’s allowance with Game Week 30’s action set to get underway Saturday lunchtime with Liverpool v Watford.

Now that you’re able to make changes, allow us to suggest some recommendations we believe could bear fruit this month.

As always, it’s unlikely these specific suggestions will apply to your XI but here’s hoping you can extrapolate the logic behind each one.

This is not a dig at Aston Villa’s Brazilian magician whose second stint in the Premier League has started very brightly indeed.

Coutinho averages 4.6 points-per-game but the simply fact is Steven Gerrard’s troops only have four fixtures to fulfil this month.

In contrast, Leicester are scheduled to play EIGHT games before the start of May.

Naturally, Maddison is the obvious selection as the joint-fourth best midfielder in the game right now but those already backing the Foxes’ No10 could well double up by recruiting Barnes.

The 24-year-old winger has racked up 41 points in the last six Game Weeks and is a huge differential with an ownership of 3.2%.

If you haven’t got the funds for this swap or simply aren’t convinced by Leicester assets then Bernardo Silva (£3.7m) should fit the bill – Man City also have eight fixtures booked in this April.

OUT: Jose Sa (£3.8m), IN: Edouard Mendy (£4.2m)

This is an essential transfer if your budget will allow it.

Only Alisson (£4.8m) has more points than Wolves’ No1 among keepers right now but Bruno Lage’s side are another team with a relatively relaxed schedule.

Whereas Sa has just four league games to fulfil, Chelsea’s first-choice custodian could feasibly start seven games this month as the Blues seek to defend their European crown before going up against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-finals.

It wouldn’t be a huge surprise if Kepa Arrizabalaga (£2.6m) was given the nod at Wembley but still Mendy will be busier than most keepers in April and should overtake Sa in the rankings.

An alternative for those on a tighter budget is Aaron Ramsdale (£3.5m) but such a move depends on the England international’s availability – wait for an update on his condition before committing.

OUT: Cristiano Ronaldo (£7.4m), IN: Diogo Jota (£5.4m)/Sadio Mane (£4.2m)

This transfer is potentially best left until midway through the month as there is every chance the five-time Ballon d’Or winner will enjoy himself against Everton, Leicester and Norwich – three of the league’s more porous defences.

However, having been eliminated from the Champions League and FA Cup, Man United’s No7 is limited to league fixtures for the rest of the campaign while a historic quadruple is still possible for Liverpool.

The Reds were handed a favourable European tie in the form of Benfica and the difficulty of a double header against Man City is offset by favourable match-ups against Watford, Everton and Newcastle, though admittedly the latter were in good form prior to the international break.

Ronaldo’s average of 5.5 points-per-game is undeniably impressive – especially given he’s representing a team struggling for fluency and consistency at the age of 37 – but it would take a tremendous effort for him to outscore Jota and/or Mane this month given the players’ respective schedules.
