Jen Psaki is reportedly in talks to join MSNBC this spring and will also get a streaming show on Peacock

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki has previously spoken about rotating out of the administration at some point in 2022, and her next destination is reportedly MSNBC, Axios reported on Friday.

Psaki has been in "exclusive talks" with MSNBC for a deal that would give her a show on NBC's Peacock streaming service and involve on-air appearances, according to the report. She would not replace Rachel Maddow for the network's most-viewed primetime show, the report added.

A representative for MSNBC declined to comment when reached by Insider. And the White House did not immediately return Insider's request for comment. 

Sources told Axios that Paki has discussed her departure with the White House counsel's office — she legally cannot sign a contract before complying with federal ethics rules — but has not yet informed the White House press team about it, an administration source told Axios.

Citing another "source close to the matter," compliance lawyers at MSNBC have been working to ensure any conversations with Psaki remain in bounds of government ethics regulations, according to the report.

Psaki would be the latest in a line of White House alumni taking contributor or hosting gigs at cable news and broadcast networks, such as former White House Press Secretaries Dana Perino and Kayleigh McEnany at Fox News, former White House Communications Director George Stephanopoulos at ABC, and Psaki's former Biden campaign and White House colleague Symone Sanders, who joined MSNBC in January and also has a show in the works at Peacock, according to Deadline.
