X-Men Artist Turns Oscars Red Carpet Looks Into Classic Mutant Heroes
New fan art by Marvel Comics artist Lucas Werneck depicts legendary X-Men Jean Grey, Emma Frost, and Ororo Munroe in red carpet-ready looks, basing their designs on the gorgeous Oscars outfits of Jessica Chastain, Elsa Hosk, and Willow Smith. With how stunning the three mutant women looked at last years Hellfire Gala it is no surprise how seamlessly Werneck's fan art was able to adapt them into Oscars-ready outfits and attitudes.
Over the years artists have depicted Jean Grey, Emma Frost, and Ororo Munroe in many different costumes, outfits, and designs, but one thing has remained constant: how these confident women make every character's head turn when they enter a room. The X-Men have always been considered to be the best dressed and most attractive group of heroes within the Marvel Universe, and their newly established annual Hellfire Gala has just continued to prove that mutants were made to model fashion. It makes perfect sense then for these three iconic X-Men to get the Oscars treatment, as they were seemingly born to have the spotlight on them!
Lucas Werneck - artist for The Trial of Magneto and the recently debuted Immortal X-Men - posted drawings on Twitter of Ororo, Emma, and Jean directly inspired by gorgeous outfits and poses he saw on the red carpet. Werneck has a truly striking visual style for his X-Men characters, always balancing their looks between realistic and comic designs, and these Oscars-inspired looks are a perfect example of his major talent. Three of the best dressed Oscars attendees this year were Jessica Chastain, Elsa Hosk, and Willow Smith. Each of their individual looks, styles, and attitudes almost perfectly matched up with the general look of Jean, Emma, and Storm, making Werneck's inspiration for his gorgeous renditions a no-brainer.
Jessica Chastain, with her shocking red hair and deep green dress, was an obvious choice for Jean Grey, whose ginger locks and green costumes have become an iconic part of her design. Chastain has also previously acted in an X-Men movie featuring Jean Grey, playing the white-haired alien Vuk in Dark Phoenix, making her more connected to the X-Men franchise than many other stars at the Oscars. Next up is the Swedish model Elsa Hosk, whose stunning blonde hair, all white dress with daring cut outs, and "ice queen" vibes matches perfectly with Emma Frost, the former White Queen, who is almost always shown in bold white outfits of her own. Finally, Werneck reimagined the legendary Ororo Munroe in an outfit worn by the beautiful and wildly talented musician and artist Willow Smith, sporting her fan favorite 80s punk rock hairdo. The three powerful women, each truly illustrious X-Men in their own rights, make for a striking appearance, and prove that the mutants would excel at a Hollywood event.
With many of the mutants outfits for the 2022 Hellfire Gala recently revealed, X-Men fans have been truly blessed with an overwhelming amount of gorgeous Krakoan fashion, and Werneck's art continues this blessing. Last year's Met Gala also inspired many X-Men fan arts of classic characters in unique outfits, so hopefully Werneck and other artists will follow suit this year as well.
