I’m a fashion expert & my easy tip means your button-front dresses will never gape again

EVERY woman has encountered a piece of clothing that just won’t sit right, no matter how many adjustments and contortions they try.

But one common problem has been solved for good, thanks to an innovative woman who credits her hack with helping her “graduate from fashion school.”

Noelle Martin is an artist and designer based in Antelope Valley, California.

She shared a clothing hack that solves one of the toughest challenges women face while getting dressed: the ugly “gap” that forms over the chest when wearing button-up tops or dresses.

“Here’s a trick I would use in fashion school whenever my projects wouldn’t fit the dress forms,” Martin explained at the beginning of her video.

Martin’s solution is so brilliant that no additional tools or supplies are required.

“You could use a safety pin, but forget that,” she said before walking viewers through the process.

“Unbutton the top two buttons, and re-button them in an X formation,” Martin demonstrated.

Her hack is easiest to do on dresses or tops with adjusters on the straps, since you may need to add length to make sure the bodice sits correctly on the chest.

After unbuttoning the top buttons on her dress, she pushed the second button through the topmost buttonhole, and the top button through the lower buttonhole.

The result was a neat, gap-free neckline, but there was a small fold of leftover fabric.

Martin quickly showed how to solve this problem, too.

“You might have this little extra bit – just tuck it in,” she explained. The tuck left the extra fabric undetectable.

“And that is how I graduated fashion school,” a triumphant Martin concluded.

In the comments section, viewers lauded Martin for her expertise, and some fellow fashion school graduates wondered why they had never seen the trick.

“It wasn’t necessarily *taught*, but it was a series of frantic moments of sewing draped projects and finding out they didn’t fit in the last minute,” Martin confessed.

Grateful commenters were excited to expand their wardrobe options.

“The amount of pretty tops I didn’t buy cause of what I call a ‘fishmouth,'” one viewer lamented.

“Wow thank you for this idea,” wrote another. “Always my problem, but now not anymore.”

Others were impressed by the tailored look of Martin’s dress after she applied the hack.
