Cardiff City ‘for sale with owner Vincent Tan looking for buyer and three investors interested in Championship club’

CARDIFF CITY owner Vincent Tan has reportedly put the club up for sale after nearly 12 years in charge.

The Bluebirds, who are languishing in 17th place in the Championship table, are currently in financial freefall – losing a whopping £2million a month.

And Tan is reportedly ‘tempted’ to cut his losses and sell the Welsh club.

That’s according to the Daily Telegraph, who claim three suitors have expressed an interest in taking ownership of the club.

But Malaysian multi-millionaire Tan is said to still have a ‘love affair’ with the club he took charge of in 2010.

And Cardiff chiefs insist Tan’s stance on selling the club is the same as it was in 2017.

Tan, 70, said five years ago: “I have no plans to sell any of the clubs. But if I am offered the right price, I will certainly consider.”

Cardiff were thumped 4-0 by bitter rivals Swansea last weekend, a defeat that has heaped serious pressure on manager Steve Morison.

He said: “It’s the losing that hurts. I would say it’s a tough one to take but it’s not because they were better than us all over the football pitch.

“We have been on an incredible run and we have let everyone down today, myself, my staff, the players, we haven’t done enough for this football club.

“We have let ourselves down. Unfortunately, we can’t go again Tuesday. We can’t dwell on it.

“Hopefully we don’t dwell on it too long, because the remit when I took the job was to keep this club in the Championship next year – not to win certain games.

“Obviously, we all want to win this game for the magnitude of it and how big it was.

“And I’m in charge when we’ve had the first double done against us.

“It’s a worse defeat than we had earlier in the season, but the goal was to stay in the Championship so that’s what I’m going to focus on.”

Cardiff will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, travelling to the Madjeski Stadium to take on Championship strugglers Reading.
