A LUXURY French chateau with 12 bedrooms, nine bathrooms and a swimming pool has gone on the market – and it’s cheaper than a one-bed flat in London.
In news that will likely leave hard-up city-dwellers grinding their teeth, a stunning estate has gone on the market for just €299,000, or £251,594.
For the cash, the lucky buyer will be able to move into palatial quarters in the picturesque village of Melay in the north-east.
They’ll find plenty of space for all the family and guests too, as well as an open-plan living and dining area, bespoke kitchen and spacious landscaped garden.
There’s also a little private swimming pool, although even those who prefer to keep their toes dry will find much to love.
The estate covers a whopping 4,223sq ft and features rustic window frames, high ceilings, wood burners and a spiral staircase.

By comparison, a two-bed detached home in Enfield, London is on the market for the comparatively low price of £300,000 – less than half the average £615,000 cost of a home in the street.
However, there’s a huge catch.
The property is in a state of complete disrepair. Carpets have been torn up and walls are black with mould.
The garden is overgrown, with thick weeds almost completely obscuring the grass.

It’s not the only cheap home that’ll need a lot of work currently on the market.
A boarded-up property in Telford, Shropshire is available for less than a second-hand car.
The three-bed house has a guide price of just £10,000.
However, it’s in a complete state, with rubbish littering every room.
Meanwhile, London’s cheapest flats went on the market for the rock-bottom price of £20,000 earlier this month.
