[Tennis] Tennis Sweeps Hastings in GPAC Play
Doane Tennis traveled to Hastings on Saturday to take on the Broncos in GPAC action. The Tigers posted a pair of 7-0 sweeps as the men won their GPAC opener and the women moved to 2-0 in conference play.
In men's action, Jorge Chevez (SR/Panama City, Panama) tied the career record for wins in singles play (since the restart of the program in the early 1990s) as he picked up his 41st victory in dual play. He won his match 6-1, 6-0. The Tigers swept through singles play and won two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.
In women's action, the Tigers picked up a clean sweep as they won all nine matches. The closest matches came at 5 and 6-singles. Payton Stalder (SR/Omaha, Neb.) won her third set, 7-5, while Kailyn Groski (JR/Papillion, Neb.) won 6-3 in the third set.
The Tigers travel to Sioux City for matches on April 8-9 as they take on Northwestern and Morningside.
