Resident Evil: Leon Kennedy's Funniest Quotes From The Movies
For even the most casual video game players, the Resident Evil games are well-known within the horror genre. The franchise recently observed its 26th anniversary, making its mark as one of the most prominent names in gaming. In addition to their library of video game installments, the stories within the RE universe have expanded to manga, television, and movies.
A beloved character from the very beginning of Resident Evil is the endearing yet humorous Leon S. Kennedy. As one of the few survivors of the outbreak in Raccoon City, he makes many more appearances in the franchise, including several CGI-animated movies that have been released over the years.
Most fans are familiar with the characters Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield from their introduction in the game Resident Evil 2. As some of the few survivors of the outbreak in Raccoon City, they continue to work to help stop the spread of the G-Virus. They are finally reunited in the movie, Resident Evil: Degeneration.
While many fans believe that Leon and Claire have incredible chemistry, they keep meeting in less than pleasant situations. Throughout this movie, they work together to investigate and prevent the T-Virus from spreading. Since their only time together is in the middle of a virus outbreak, Leon adequately reflects on their bizarre encounters with one another.
An admired characteristic of Leon throughout the franchise is his boldness. While many would not risk their jobs, or their lives, when asked to leave a warzone, it is generally understood that Leon is not one to take the easy way out.
When told that the United States government is retreating from the Eastern Slav Republic, he disobeys orders. He decides to take it upon himself to investigate biological weapons in the country. Other characters may have been concerned, and certainly annoyed, with his actions, but Leon chose to joke about his citizenship being revoked.
As he directly disobeys orders to leave the country in Resident Evil: Damnation, Leon Kennedy humorously comes up with a great excuse for his actions on the spot. Or at least an excuse he thinks is valid.
After stating he will not return home with the rest of the United States troops, Leon disconnects his communication with Ingrid Hunnigan. While he is determined to continue his mission in the Eastern Slav Republic, he figures that missing his flight would be a good enough reason for his absence back home.
Leon never fails to make awkward jokes to himself while on missions, especially since most of the other characters around him do not find his one-liners appropriate for their line of work.
In this Resident Evil animated movie, there comes a moment where Leon must move from rooftop to rooftop in order to avoid the zombies that are crowding the streets of the town. While his frustration with the obstacles is reasonable, most would not generally compare themselves to Santa Claus.
In Leon's line of work, buildings and other structures are prone to explode or collapse. It's just the nature of the job. During the mission he volunteered himself for in RE: Damnation, he happens to witness a structure collapse into ruin.
Following the incident, Leon surveys his surroundings and takes note of the fallen debris and broken structures around him. Instead of swiftly moving on, he thought to make an ill-timed joke regarding remodeling.
It is not every day a person is kidnapped. Even for Leon Kennedy, abduction can be a traumatizing event. However, in this instance, Leon is more annoyed with his capture rather than worried about his personal safety.
While on the hunt in the Eastern Slav Republic, he is taken as a hostage. It is clear that he is not a regular civilian, but he decides to play dumb anyway in hopes of avoiding hostility. Also, it wouldn't hurt to gain sympathy, and maybe even some breakfast.
Once he is abducted in Damnation, Leon is thoroughly interrogated by his captors. They make not be asking the right questions, but it is evident that their threats do not phase Leon.
One of his captors asks, "Do you know who we are?" and instead of feigning worry, Leon just takes a more sarcastic approach to the question. He can never resist the urge to quip.
Resident Evil: Vendetta is Leon's most recent appearance in the RE movie timeline. He has been working as an agent for well over a decade, and following the events of Resident Evil 6 and other RE installments, Leon is definitely more likely to make a sarcastic comment than his awkward dad jokes.
When Rebecca Chambers and Chris Redfield come to recruit Leon for yet another mission, Chris is dressed for combat in public. Leon, clearly annoyed with the prospect of more work, makes a joke about Chris' inability to blend in.
At this point in the Resident Evil timeline, Leon Kennedy is worn out, physically and emotionally. However, it is unlikely he will turn down a mission after some convincing, especially when he knows he can help.
It is a running gag within RE that Leon rarely ever gets to enjoy a vacation. It is understandable that Leon has become the one-day-at-a-time type of person, both because his job is dangerous and he never can get away from it.
Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is the most recently released animated title in the RE universe. It takes place after Resident Evil 4 when Leon is currently working for the president and the White House.
At some point in this animated series, Leon finds himself in the strange situation of being targeted by rats...zombie rats? Clearly in an uncomfortable position, he yearns for some cheese in order to distract his assailants.
