The Masked Singer Fans Think Broadway Star Is In Prince Costume
The Masked Singer fans are putting their detective skills to work again and think that Broadway performer Cheyenne Jackson might be on the show as the Prince. Fans first met the contestant during a preview for the season and heard him sing in a short promo video for the FOX series. The Prince costume is the second frog to appear on the show; the first was rapper Bow Wow during season 3. However, The Masked Singer season 7's frog is much more glamorous, flaunting a long red cape and a big gold crown on his head. The first clue Prince gave to fans was a photo of himself wearing a blue letterman jacket with the number 30 on it.
In the quick preview of The Masked Singer contestant's voice, he belts out the lyrics to Sam Smith's song "Lay Me Down," proving that he certainly has the vocal strength to be a Broadway star. Cheyenne has a lot of experience with singing as he's had leading roles in regional theatre productions like West Side Story, Carousel and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. He's also made his way to Broadway as the understudy for both male leads in the Tony-winning Thoroughly Modern Millie and as Sonny in the 2007 production of Xanadu. The actor has also appeared in various seasons of American Horror Story and the Disney Channel original movie musical Descendants 3.
Fans are now leaning towards Cheyenne as their guess for who is in the Prince costume on The Masked Singer. A user on Reddit shared a video of the Broadway performer singing "Something's Coming" from West Side Story, and they believe his tone is a perfect match for Prince. The user asked fellow fans of the show what they thought, and they all seemed to be on board with the idea. "As of now, I'd put good money on the Prince being the amazing Cheyenne Jackson," one user replied.
Fans also pointed out that the Descendants 3 actor appeared on another FOX show, I Can See Your Voice, and it's pretty common for the network to feature stars on several of their shows. While Prince hasn't made his stage debut yet, he will be appearing on Team Good alongside Firefly, Armadillo and Ringmaster. Previous Team Good member McTerrier was sadly eliminated during the Masked Singer season 7 premiere and revealed as pastry chef Duff Goldman. Prince is the last team member to make his debut as fans have already fallen in love with the other team members, especially Ringmaster and Firefly, who have blown fans and panelists away with their vocals.
The Masked Singer fans are always convincing with their guesses and, surprisingly, way more accurate than the actual panelists' guesses on the show. The vocal clips definitely do line up, as do the FOX crossover theories, making fans' guesses that much more convincing. While there are still a few Masked Singer episodes left before Prince makes his stage debut, that won't stop fans from trying to crack the code as soon as possible. Whoever it is behind the Prince costume, he definitely stands alongside Ringmaster and Firefly as a top vocalist for season 7.
