Every NFL team's draft needs after (most of) 2022 free agency
The NFL offseason is a time to build. Some teams only need a few cosmetic changes. Others are attempting to lay a new foundation on the football equivalent of a Superfund site.
This winter’s free agent and trade marketplace has set the stage for another action-filled draft. The Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons have to replace franchise quarterbacks. The Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs have gaping holes in their lineups where All-Pro wide receivers used to be. The New York Giants Houston Texans each have multiple top 15 picks and an “areas of improvement” catalogue as long as a CVS receipt.
This year’s crop of rookie talent can address some of those needs. 2022 will provide another strong class of debuting offensive linemen, pass rushers, cornerbacks, and wide receivers. Teams in need of passers, however, might have a rough weekend.
Here are the weak spots each franchise has addressed through free agency and trades in March and April and the holes that persist as the 2022 NFL Draft looms. It’s good news is you’re a Bills or Bengals fan. And if you’re a Lions fan, well, there’s nowhere to go but up.
