Police responded to Erie High School in Erie, Pennsylvania, Monday morning after gunfire erupted.

Officials confirmed one person at the school was shot; however, it’s unclear whether the victim was a student or staff member.
The victim was transported to a local hospital in good condition, Erie police said.
The name and age of the victim were not immediately released.
A post on the Erie Public Schools Facebook page confirmed that a shooting had occurred at the school.

School officials also confirmed a person was taken into custody.
“Attention Erie High Families: There has been a shooting at Erie High. The building is on hard lockdown with a police presence on campus. A person is in custody.
“We are coordinating with law enforcement and are arranging an intentional dismissal process, including parent pick-up, now,” the school announcement said.
Officials have urged the public to avoid the area. A large police presence remains at the school.
