Married At First Sight: Why Steve Is Becoming So Unpopular
Steve started season 14 off as one of the most likable husbands in recent Married At First Sight memory, but due to recent developments in his relationship, viewers have turned on the newlywed. Although he has the most functional relationship of all the marriages arranged in Married At First Sight season 14, viewers are struggling to see Steve's point of view in her latest disagreements with his wife, Noi. From his aversion to getting a job to his manipulative tactics, here's why Steve is becoming so unpopular with the Married At First Sight fanbase.
For better or for worse, Steve and Noi appear to be Married At First Sight season 14's strongest couple. While all of the other newlyweds have been arguing on their honeymoon, in bowling alleys, and in their apartments, Steve and Noi have managed to maintain a relatively stable relationship. Unfortunately, Steve has been criticized for signing up for Married At First Sight without having a stable job. This has caused friction in his relationship with Noi, who wants a husband with a reliable income. While Noi was originally seen as the superficial aggressor in the marriage, Steve is becoming so unpopular after his calculating behavior in the latest Married At First Sight season 14 episodes.
Before she met Steve, Noi asserted that she wanted a husband that would be able to provide for her and their future family. Noi shared that her family was financially insecure when she grew up and she didn't want her kids to have to struggle as she did. Regrettably, Married At First Sight's relationship experts didn't take Steve's finances into account when they paired the hopeless romantics in season 14 as Steve was laid off in December 2020. While some have argued that Noi is being too superficial and Steve likely has plenty of money saved up, others are tired of the husband's noncommittal attitude. A Reddit user confessed, "I’d be annoyed if a guy loafed around the house while I worked all day." Sadly for Steve, Married At First Sight fans now agree with Noi's frustration about her husband's unemployment.
Unfortunately, neither Noi nor Steve has been the perfect spouse in Married At First Sight season 14. Viewers turned against Noi after an argument about cooking noodles led her to storm out of their apartment. Noi has demonstrated that she might not be equipped to last in an adult relationship, but fans have become more disappointed in Steve as he's not conveying any desire to get a new job and is dismissing Noi's concerns. A viewer assessed, "People need to give Noi a break... It can be hard to be attracted to someone who doesn’t work or show any drive." Additionally, fans think Steve has been intentionally confusing Noi to dismiss her expectation that he get a stable job. Another commenter shared, "[Steve] doublespeaks in nearly every conversation on this show, and so much of what he says is annoyingly manipulative."
Steve might not be as unpopular as "the playboy," Olajuwon, but Married At First Sight fans have been turning on the husband the longer his relationship with Noi is broadcasted in season 14. Based on his reluctance to continue in his career and his mind games, Steve is becoming so unpopular with Married At First Sight fans. Hopefully, Steve can reclaim his title as the fan-favorite husband before the conclusion of Married At First Sight season 14.
