Accidents often happen on the roads, but one in Derbyshire really did take the biscuit on Monday.
A seven-hour rescue mission was sparked when thousands of ginger nuts and bourbon creams fell out of a lorry onto a busy main road.
Pictures show the avalanche of McVitie’s treats strewn across Ilkeston Road in Sandiacre, causing slight delays for drivers.
It took officers ‘a moment to digest the scene in front of them’, a spokesperson for Derbyshire Constabulary said.
‘However they didn’t crumble and ensured that traffic was able to continue moving nicely’, they continued.
‘While recovery had to approach the scene gingerly, after a bit of hobnobbing to ensure that all the right forms were filled out they soon had the wagon wheels rolling.’

A team from Crouch Recovery, a car and commercial vehicle recovery service, also attended the scene.
‘A lorryload of McVitie’s finest have decided to abandon ship causing a slight obstruction’, Erewash Response wrote on Twitter.
Fortunately, locals in the area saw the amusing side of the incident amid the delays.
More than one person on social media said they were ‘on their way with a bucket of tea’.
One person quipped: ‘Crumbs that looks bad! I hear traffic is being diverted on to the party ring road.’
Someone else joked: ‘Did you catch any Jammie Dodgers trying to nick a few? I bet no one’s feeling like they’re a smart cookie…’
