Masterchef viewers all make the same complaint after BBC scheduling shake-up
MASTERCHEF viewers all made the same complaint after a BBC scheduling shake-up.
Telly fans were fuming the cooking show was on instead of their beloved Holby.
The hospital drama’s final episode aired on Tuesday night — just hours before it was nominated for a Bafta.
Yet fans were struggling to come to terms with it coming off air at its replacement.
They took to Twitter to complain.
One fumed: “#Masterchef instead of #Holby!!!”
A second said: “Should be Holby City.”
Another said: “So the @bbc took #holbycity off so they could replace it with more flipping #masterchef.
“I thought you axed #holbycity for new programs not old boring programs that show the same thing, you had no right substituting Holby for MasterChef.”

The BBC announced ten months ago that it was being axed as part of a drive under new Director General Tim Davie to make more dramas outside the South of England.
And since Holby was a sister show to Casualty — set in the same Bristol hospital — there was a feeling there was already an element of duplication.
A statement shared by the BBC revealed the Tuesday night stalwart was being axed to make way for more drama serving all parts of the country.
It read: “We are incredibly proud of Holby City but it’s with great sadness that we are announcing that after 23 years, the show will end on screen in March of next year.

“We sometimes have to make difficult decisions to make room for new opportunities and as part of the BBC’s commitment to make more programmes across the UK, we have taken the difficult decision to bring the show to a close in order to reshape the BBC’s drama slate to better reflect, represent and serve all parts of the country.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the amazing team at BBC Studios and all the cast and crew who have been involved in the show since 1999.

“Holby has been a stalwart with audiences, delighting millions of viewers each week and winning hundreds of awards with a compelling mix of cutting edge medical stories and explosive personal stories.
“We look forward to working with the team over the coming months to ensure that when it ends, Holby goes out on a high.”
