I’m pregnant & wanted a seat on the bus but a man was using it for his ‘resting’ hand – so I sat on it

A PREGNANT woman who was desperate for a seat on the train was labelled “inappropriate” by her husband after sitting on a man’s hand.

The mum-to-be took to Reddit’s Am I the Asshole? forum to explain what had happened, and question whether her spouse’s reaction was out of order or not.

Revealing that she was eight months pregnant at the time of the situation, she added: “I take public transport to work daily.

“I’m always exhausted cause I have to work extra time to be able to afford basic necessities.

“I take the bus to work everyday and often times it’s packed, but I get lucky enough when decent folks volunteer their seats for me.”

On Wednesday, she went to sit in the one empty seat on the bus but there was a man “in his business attire” sitting there with his hand on the empty seat.

BUMPING ALONG

I had no idea I was pregnant, my bump was tiny –I wore crop tops and was slim

mum's the word

I was mum-shamed at 16 & judged ‘too old’ when I fell pregnant at 43

“I say excuse me and ask him to remove his hand so I could sit, but he tells me the seat was ‘taken’,” she continued.

“I ask by who and he says his hand. I laughed a little but wasn’t feeling well so I ask him to remove it so I could sit but he refuses again, folks start staring I tell him I’m tired and needed to sit and he replies saying my pregnancy isn’t his problem.

“I had enough at this point, my legs were burning and my back was hurting, so I go ahead and sit on his hand.”

The man then “freaked out” and tried to quickly remove his hand, while shouting at her about how “disrespectful” she’d been.

“I argue back but then he gets off after saying I was being inappropriate and disrespectful,” she said.

“Everyone stares at me and I just sit there feeling a bit of shame about what happened.”

When she got home, she recalled what had happened to her husband, who told her that “I did indeed act inappropriately and shouldn’t have made this guy uncomfortable by sitting on his hand like that”.

“He tells me I f**ked up and this was totally inappropriate despite me saying I was so tired of standing and was in desperate need to sit down,” she concluded.

In response to the post, the majority of people insisted that the woman hadn’t been in the wrong at all.

“NTA (not the asshole). Though, I can’t believe you stole the seat from his only lover!” one person hilariously wrote.

While another added: “NTA. I hope you farted.”

“Oh God Nooo, that would’ve been a lot worse, but that’s hilarious,” the woman replied.

“I can only imagine his reaction, oh dear!”
