Thad Matta returns as head coach at Butler

Thad Matta has been named the head coach of the Butler men's basketball team for the second time.

Butler announced the decision on its school website Sunday morning, two days after it parted ways with LaVall Jordan as its coach.

Matta, 54, boasts a record of 439-154 in 17 seasons as the head coach at his alma mater of Butler (2000-01) in addition to Xavier (2001-04) and Ohio State (2004-17). His teams advanced to the NC
