Doctor Strange 2 Trailer Shows Scarlet Witch Attacking Illuminati Base
Marvel Studios' latest Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer shows Scarlet Witch attacking the Illuminati base. Elizabeth Olsen returns to the MCU after the events of WandaVision, and this time, she emerges more powerful than ever before. Unfortunately for Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), instead of an ally, it seems like Wanda Maximoff (or variants of her) will bring him more problems in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The upcoming MCU film marks director Sam Raimi's return to the Marvel sandbox after wrapping up Tobey Maguire's Sony Spider-Man trilogy in the late 2000s. His involvement came after original filmmaker Scott Derrickson's exit from the movie due to creative differences. Even before that, however, Olsen's Wanda has already been part of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness narrative. It's uncertain how much of her story changed since the director switch but based on what's been revealed through marketing, she seems to be fully embracing her Scarlet Witch persona.
With Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' release now less than a month, Marvel Studios is fully teasing the movie with various trailers, images, and behind-the-scenes featurettes. A brand new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer has been released and it gives audiences a new look at Wanda's attack on the Illuminati base. It also shows Defender Strange interacting with new MCU hero America Chavez. Watch the full video below:

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is expected to introduce the MCU's version of the Illuminati on the big screen. The exact members of the team are still uncertain, but Patrick Stewart's Professor X is confirmed to be one of them. Doctor Strange gets in seemingly arrested by them for his actions in Spider-Man: No Way Home. It seems that this could be where he meets America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) who is also imprisoned by the Illuminati, likely due to her multiverse hopping powers. Eventually, they're likely to escape and this could be due to Wanda's attack on the base.
It remains to be seen what the Illuminati's real intentions are in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While they could simply be safeguarding the sanctity of the multiverse, it isn't outside the realm of possibility that they have their own, possibly nefarious, interests. How involved they will be in the larger MCU will be a major question going forward, but, considering Wanda's hunt for her sons Tommy and Billy, audiences can expect her to go full villain against them if they try hindering her from saving her boys. Between her motivations and her newfound power as the Scarlet Witch, she could cause more harm to the multiverse than Doctor Strange ever did in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
