Sister Wives: Why Kody Brown's Division Of Coyote Pass Land Puzzles Fans
Kody Brown moved his family with a promise of living on Coyote Pass, but the division of assets strikes Sister Wives fans as odd. Since leaving Las Vegas to make their move to Flagstaff, the Brown family has been in disarray. The polygamous family is more fragmented than ever, and a lot of the drama is centered around the shared desert land.
The large family has had a hard couple of years mainly because Kody decided he wanted to uproot everyone yet again and move. The Brown clan moved from a Las Vegas cul-de-sac to the Arizona desert with little explanation from the family patriarch. Season 16 showed the Browns at odds over particular plots, housing placements, and even a lake. Some family members like Christine Brown wanted to move back to Utah, while others like Janelle Brown and Robyn Brown preferred to stay put. As Sister Wives viewers are aware, Kody has yet to decide what to do with the land that was purchased back in 2018.
At one point, Kody made his intentions clear that he wanted one giant house in which everyone could reside, but the wives wanted separate homes. Fans have become increasingly concerned with Kody's division of the land, with one Reddit thread calling him out. Since the Browns own 14 acres, it would make sense to split it evenly by five, which would leave them each with 2.8 acres. Fans agreed it would be the "most fair" way to go about it. Thread participants couldn't help but voice their frustrations in support of the wives who were going to be cheated out of the land. According to Kody, the acreage didn't matter because each plot was appraised at around the same value. Nonetheless, fans are still left scratching their heads at his calculations since each wife paid a different fee.
As followers know, Kody, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn spent $820,000 on the land. However, ownership of the land doesn't appear to be split evenly among the family members. There are two smaller parcels of land and two larger parcels of land. Naturally, Kody is the part-owner of all four properties. Janelle owns 2.42 acres, Robyn and Kody own 2.42 acres, Meri has 4.48, and Christine owns 5.16 acres. One plot is set right by the man-made lake, while another is set way back amongst the trees. If Janelle uses her plot to build a greenhouse, which she claimed during the recent season, then it would make sense for her to have more land since the garden will benefit the entire family.
Kody will now have to take into consideration the fact that Christine has left the marriage. She is on the deed, and Kody will either need to buy her out or the former couple will have to sell and split the proceeds. If the family does decide to keep Coyote Pass, a good option could be to give Janelle 4 acres and everyone else 2.5. As Sister Wives followers know, nothing is that easy when it comes to Kody, who is most likely still hoping for one large home.
