10 Teen Wolf Actors Who Went On To The DC Universe | Screen Rant

0

With the recent cast reunion on Superman & Lois as well as filming for the Teen Wolf movie underway, there's no better time to take a glance at what the cast members have been up to since their time on the popular supernatural teen show. Interestingly, many of the cast members took a turn to DC properties after their first appearances on Teen Wolf.

With 100 episodes spanning six seasons, a rotating door of guest stars for multi-episode arcs, and all of it happening during the peak of DC's television production, it's not a surprise that many of these actors also found roles in the Arrowverse and beyond as DC revamped their film and television properties.

First appearing in season 2, Charlie and Max Carver played twins Ethan and Adian, who would shift together to form one giant werewolf. Originally members of Alpha pack, the two ended up splitting up as Scott's pack to protect Beacon Hills.

The two moved on to another twin-based role, this time each credited as "The Twin," in Matt Reeves's blockbuster The Batman. They have an extended fight sequence outside of The Iceberg Lounge with Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight. Some viewers have even speculated that they'll be returning in future projects, possibly as Tweedledee and Tweedledum, two villains associated with The Mad Hatter and The Joker as henchmen.

While Gideon Emery began his role as Deucalion on Teen Wolf as the alpha of a rival pack in season 3, he eventually developed into an anti-hero, fighting alongside Scott’s pack in the battle for Beacon Hills. While Emery has multiple superhero roles under his belt, all of his appearances have been in voiceover work.

Like many Teen Wolf actors, Emery joined the Arrowverse, providing additional voice-over work for The Legends of Tomorrow. However, his biggest DC role was in the 2015 revival of the animated series Super Friends, playing Flash rouge Captain Boomerang for seven episodes, whom he also voiced in multiple video games for the brand.

On Teen Wolf, JR Bourne portrayed Chris Argent, werewolf hunter and over-protective father of Allison Argent, Scott's love interest for the first three seasons. Even though Chris was antagonistic towards the pack during the early seasons, his character arc covered ideas about grief, redemption, and anger as his relationship with the pack developed.

Most of the Teen Wolf alums went on to have multiple-episode arcs on the various CW Arrowverse shows, but Bourne only made one appearance in the DC universe, guest-starring on the titular Arrow. Bourne appeared as the second meta-human villain to face off against Green Arrow, Jeremy “Double Down” Tell, who was able to materialize and weaponize his tattoos.

In season 6, Ross Butler joined the cast for a three-episode arc dealing with the Wild Hunt. Even though Butler's appearance on the show was as the series was winding down, it was just before his own career took off.

After Butler left his role of Reggie on Archie Comics-centric series Riverdale, he joined the cast of DC's Shazam! as the superpowered alter-ego of Billy Batson's foster brother Eugene. While his busy schedule means Butler probably won't be making any kind of major appearance in the upcoming Teen Wolf movie, he's slated to reprise and expand his role as Superhero Eugene when Shazam! Fury of the Gods releases in late 2022.

When John Wesley Shipp played the abusive father of Isaac Lahey on Teen Wolf, he'd already donned the scarlet speedster's iconic lightning bolt logo as Barry Allen in the 1990s version of The Flash. Shipp famously joined The Flash as the father of Grant Gustin's Barry Allen.

Shipp has played two different versions of DC's fastest man alive, returning in crossovers as Earth-90's Barry Allen and as the Jay Garrick, the golden age Flash on both The Flash and Stargirl. It's fascinating and a real testament to Shipp's talent to see his portrayal of such a callous and brutal character on Teen Wolf versus the selfless and heroic characters he plays in the DC Universe.

Colton Hayes left his role as Jackson Whittmore on Teen Wolf to join Arrow as Roy Harper and then subsequently left Arrow too. However, as a fan favorite from both shows, he returned to each in their series finale episodes. Haynes played both characters as jaded and arrogant jerks and then showed that for both characters it was due to feeling like he didn't quite belong anywhere.

Haynes is scheduled to return to Beacon Hills, and fans hope this return in the Teen Wolf movie will expand on the relationship between Jackson and Ethan that happened during the time Haynes was offscreen on Teen Wolf and filming Arrow.

After Crystal Reed left Teen Wolf in season 3 to pursue more mature roles, she joined the Jim Gordon-centered Batman prequel series GothamPlaying the daughter of Carmine Falcone, Reed's Sophia Falcone was a manipulative, clever, and shrewd Mob Boss in her own right.

After Gotham, Reed played Abigail Arcane in the one season run of Swamp ThingWith a vastly different tone from other Arroweverse shows, Swamp Thing leaned into the supernatural and horror feel of the source material. It was canceled after one season because of budgetary restrictions, but Swamp Thing set Reed up for her return to the genre in the Teen Wolf movie.

There must have been something about Megan Tandy's performance as a former US Marshall-turned-Mercenary on Teen Wolf that lead to her role as Sophie Moore on BatwomanTandy's Teen Wolf character Braedan was a little more rough and tumble than her character on Batwoman.

The added heart of Sophie Moore resonated well with fans, and she became one of Batwoman's bravest characters during the reframing of the Arrowverse series with Ryan Wilder. Busy with Batwoman,  Tandy is not yet announced to make a physical appearance in the Teen Wolf movie, there's a possibility that her character may surprise viewers, even if just in passing reference.

The Teen Wolf reunion on Superman & Lois happened with Ian Bohen’s arrival as General Mitchell Anderson in season 2. Teen Wolf had Bohen starring as Derek Hale’s less than trustworthy uncle Peter. Much like Peter Hale, General Anderson has his own motives in mind and has little concern for the effects his actions have on others.

While the characters have many similarities, the small details and glimpses of humanity Bohen fed into his role as Peter enabled the character to develop from the self-serving villain into the egocentric and snarky character fans came to love. Viewers will see Bohen when he returns in the Teen Wolf movie, if they haven't had their fill on Superman & Lois.

Tyler Hoechlin's path from Teen Wolf to the DC Universe is easily the most visible and the most jarringly different in terms of characters. Hoechlin's cool bad boy take on the tormented Derek Hale cemented him as one of Teen Wolf's top heartthrobs. Hoechlin was able to convey all of Derek’s anger, loneliness, and resentment but still let the character organically grow into a role model and peer for Scott.

In the DC Universe, Hoechlin took almost a total reversal of character. Now starring on Superman & Lois, he brings both the bumbling nerd of Clark Kent and the iconic Superman to life with just enough of each characters' identity blending through that they make a cohesive unit.
