The OnePlus 10R Looks Much Better Than Expected | Screen Rant
The OnePlus 10R is the next phone in the OnePlus 10 series, following the recently announced OnePlus 10 Pro, and it features a pleasant design. OnePlus announced the R-series in 2021 as a new line of entry-level flagships. The first model in the series was the OnePlus 9R and this was followed up with the OnePlus 9RT later in the same year.
The OnePlus R series sits between the OnePlus Nord and the numbered series, offering flagships specs with some tradeoffs and a lower price than the top-end phones. The OnePlus business model has evolved over time and its flagships now cost a lot more than they did before. In this sense, the R series caters to those who miss the brand's flagship-killer heyday.
An alleged render of the OnePlus 10R first surfaced in March 2022, and it showed a design that didn't leave a great impression. However, OnePlus has now shared an image which paints a much better picture of what buyers can expect. The OnePlus 10R is shown in two colors (green/olive and black) and has a flat frame that's curved at the corners. OnePlus has settled for a dual-pattern finish for the back of the device. One half has lines that run from the base of the camera island to the bottom while the other half is smooth. The camera island itself is home to three cameras and is slightly raised.
Alongside the photos, OnePlus has also disclosed a few details of the phone. The OnePlus 10R will have support for 150W SUPERVOOC and 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging, meaning there will be two versions of the phone. One will have support for 150W fast charging while the other will charge at up to 80W. While this is not a common occurrence in the mobile industry, it isn't unheard of either. The Realme GT Neo 3 was announced in March 2022 and features a similar design to the OnePlus 10R. it is also available in two versions - one with a 4500mAh battery that supports 150W fast charging and another with a greater 5000mAh battery capacity that supports 80W fast charging.
OnePlus is keeping the remaining details under wraps until the announcement later this month, but a leak already revealed the full spec sheet back in March. According to that leak, the OnePlus 10R will have a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display with a centered punch hole that houses a 16MP camera. Powering the phone is MediaTek's Dimensity 8100 processor, a 5G chipset that packs a lot of processing power. The phone will also have a 50MP triple camera setup on the back that includes an 8MP ultrawide angle camera and a 2MP macro camera.
The leak also mentioned that the 150W version will have a 4500mAh battery while the 80W version will pack a 5000mAh battery. Both versions will not have an Alert Slider, a signature feature on OnePlus phones, nor will they have an audio jack. However, OnePlus will ship them with OxygenOS 12 based on Android 12. The OnePlus 10R is scheduled for an April 28 launch in India and it remains to be seen if it will make it to North America.
