Walking Dead Museum Commemorates Show With Zombie Props & Costumes

0

A new The Walking Dead museum exhibition will commemorate the show and feature props, costumes, zombie makeup, and more. The Walking Dead first premiered on AMC back in 2010, quickly gaining a passionate following as viewers tuned in to follow a close-knit group of survivors struggling to adapt to life in a zombie apocalypse. The success of The Walking Dead led to the creation of several other spinoff shows, Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond, both of which have gone on to develop strong followings in their own right.

Now on its final season 11, The Walking Dead promises to wrap up the stories of a number of main characters, while also setting up new spinoff shows. Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride), the two longest surviving members of the show, having been introduced back in season 1, are set to get their own spinoff show at some point in 2023. Similarly, Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) are also poised to appear in their very own spinoff, titled Isle of the Dead, which will also premiere in 2023.

As per a new announcement from the Museum of the Moving Image in New York City, The Walking Dead will be getting its very own exhibit at the venue, dubbed "Living with The Walking Dead." The exhibit, which is expected to arrive in June and last through to the end of the year, will feature props and costumes from the show, in addition to zombie makeup, storyboards, scripts, concept art, and more. According to the museum, this new exhibit is designed to address "the origins, production, fandom, and impact of The Walking Dead."

Having now run for 11 seasons, a lot has changed on The Walking Dead since its humble beginnings back in 2010. Countless characters have come and gone, including the former leader of the survivors, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). The tone of the show has also shifted as it becomes apparent that the real threats in this new zombie-infested world are not the undead, but actually other survivors. From the description, it seems that this new exhibit will include items from throughout the history of The Walking Dead, covering its various storylines and fan-favorite characters, many of whom were killed along the way.

It remains to be seen just how expansive this new Walking Dead exhibit will be but, with 11 seasons worth of material to pull from, it sounds like there will be plenty for fans to sink their teeth into. Although The Walking Dead is no longer the ratings juggernaut it once was for AMC, the series is still exceedingly popular, and the new spinoffs are poised to mark the beginning of an entirely new era for the Walking Dead franchise. Although still a few months away, it certainly seems like fans of The Walking Dead won't want to miss this new exhibit.
