Elden Ring: How to Find (& Use) The Wakizashi | Screen Rant
The Wakizashi is a Melee Armament in Elden Ring under the Dagger Class of weapons. It is a special type of Dagger that causes Bloodloss Buildup (38) and players can use it to Power-stance with other Katanas in Elden Ring. Players can find the Wakizashi in Gaol Cave, which is located on the outskirts of Caelid near Fort Gael.
Players can fast travel to the Fort Gael North Site of Grace, the closest Grace Site to Gaol Cave. Once players have entered Gaol Cave, there will be another Site of Grace called “Gaol Cave”, use this one as a closer fast travel spot. Gaol Cave is a puzzle cave that has traps, enemies, dead-ends, and shortcuts. In order to obtain the Wakizashi, players will have to find a switch that opens the jail cell doors from within the cave.
The cave itself is a maze, so it is recommended to not backtrack until the player has flipped the switch inside the cave. The switch itself will be located inside a small room, with miniature enemies in Elden Ring wielding bleed weapons. Be careful of their fast attacks and smoke bombs, as the room was designed for the player to be ambushed.
Once the player has flipped the switch, all the jail cell doors from within the cave will open. This leads to new paths and loot areas, the player will find the Wakizashi in 1 of the opened jail cells. Elden Ring players should also notice all of the enemies kept inside the jail cells will walk out and flood the cave. Players should be careful as all of these enemies self-explode and cause other enemies in the vicinity to do the same.
Players should try to kill them before they explode or retreat when they do. In order for the player to properly wield the Wakizashi, players will need 9 Strength Stat and 13 Dexterity Stat. The Wakizashi scales primarily with Dexterity and Strength in Elden Ring. It is a very good weapon for Dexterity Builds.
The Wakizashi comes with the Ash of War Quickstep, which allows the player to perform a dodge without the need of pressing the dodge roll button. It has a similar animation as the backstep but allows the player to take 0 damage for a short period of time. As explained in the description of the Ash of War, players can circle around enemies using this Ash of War for easy Backstabs or Dodge Maneuvering.
