San Mateo: Ride share passenger arrested after exposing himself to driver, police say

San Mateo — A ride share passenger was arrested Wednesday afternoon after exposing himself to the driver and carrying a concealed knife, according to authorities.

Police said they responded at about 3:59 p.m. in the 300 block of North Kingston Street to a report of a man, who exposed himself to a ride share driver, according to a San Mateo Police Department news release.

A 23-year-old woman told authorities that when she picked up the man from the Bridgepointe Shopping Center at about 3:45 p.m., they headed north on Highway 101 and he started talking about sex. The woman said she didn’t want to discuss the topic, but he exposed himself and began masturbating. Police didn’t specify which ride share app was used during the incident.

The woman then took the Dore Avenue exit off the highway and told the man to get out of the car, according to police. He asked her again if she wanted to see his genitals and then got out of the car.

Police found the man at the intersection of Dore Avenue and North Bayshore Boulevard and the woman identified him as the passenger. Authorities found a fully concealed five-inch-long steak knife in the right pocket of the man’s shorts. He was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail on charges of indecent exposure and carrying a concealed dirk or dagger.
