Don’t throw away your lone socks from the laundry – they’re a savior for cleaning

It feels like a waste to let your t-shirts and socks go just because they don’t suit you anymore.

A cleaning expert named Caroline Solomon, who goes by @neat.caroline on TikTok, said you can upcycle your old things and use them for organization purposes instead.

LONELY SOCKS

We’ve all dealt with the annoyance of being left with a pile of single socks after a laundry load.

Caroline said these can actually come in handy: “Use a lone sock as a duster.”

She slipped her hand into the sock and swiped above her picture frame.

SPRAY BOTTLES

Next, Caroline said to save those empty, used-up spray bottles to store your DIY cleaners.

All you need to do is combine water with some dish soap and you have a great all-purpose cleaner.

IPHONE BOXES

If you’ve ever bought a new iPhone or iPad, you likely have a few empty boxes lying around that they came in.

Caroline said to use these as desk drawer organizers.

You can store paperclips in one, receipts in another, and sticky notes in a third.  

TOOTHBRUSHES

As for all those old toothbrushes from guests past that you have lying around, save those too.

“Use an old or extra toothbrush as a cleaning brush.

“To disinfect it before use, grab some hydrogen peroxide, let it soak for a few minutes, then soak it under water.”

T-SHIRTS

Her next tip addressed the stack of worn out, old t-shirts you have.

Instead of throwing these out, turn them into cleaning rags.

No need to buy small towels when you have a handful of these!

JARS

Caroline said there’s also a use for those empty pickle and jelly jars you have lying around.

Simply rinse and remove the label, then use them to store your dry goods like nuts or sugar.
