A career coach named Anna Belyaeva, who goes by @thecareerdiet on TikTok, has gained a following online thanks to her clips that offer tips for succeeding in your profession.

She recently received over 2million views on a video that taught viewers how to sound more confident in an email.

She began: “How often do you say, ‘I just wanted…’ in a professional setting?”

Anna offered examples for when you might say this: “I just wanted to follow up, I just wanted to check in, I just wanted to see if you had any updates for me.”

The expert said to stop yourself the next time you’re about to utter those words.

“To sound more polished, more professional, and more confident, eliminate both ‘just’ and ‘wanted.’

“Instead, simply say: ‘I’m reaching out to, I’m following up to, I’m checking in to.’”

Although some viewers appreciated her tips, others said they were going to stick to their ways:

“That’s too aggressive. I want to be softer,” one person argued.

“To sound polite, keep on saying ‘I just wanted to,’” added another.

As for other useful career tips, an HR insider named Tani Moore, who goes by @taniracqurwrld on TikTok, revealed the five ‘gutsiest’ questions you should be asking potential employers.

In the clip, she said: “Why am I saying these are the top five questions? Because these are the questions that people hesitate to ask.”

1. What are the biggest challenges I will face in the first 90 days and how will success be measured?

2. Is there anything about my background that makes you hesitant to move forward in the interview process?

3. How does my background compare to other candidates you’re interviewing?

4. I know the pandemic has caused unprecedented disruptions for many companies, how are you doing as a manager?

5. Reflecting on your own experience, what have you seen the company do to promote diversity and inclusion?
