Marvel Releases Squirrel Girl Narrative Podcast From Ryan North Comics
Marvel announces a new narrative podcast based on Ryan North's Squirrel Girl comic book series. Doreen Green/Squirrel Girl made her debut in 1991 and has appeared in several comics over the years. However, she's most well known for North's The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl series, which ran from 2015-2019.
The SiriusXM podcast from Marvel Entertainment will act as a follow-up to the comics. Titled Marvel’s Squirrel Girl: The Unbeatable Radio Show!, it will follow the lead character as a college student trying to balance being a publicly-known superhero and also the host of Empire State University's radio show. Much like the comics, the podcast will be full of humor, optimism, and of course the occasional crime-fighting. It stars Milana Vayntrub as Doreen Green/Squirrel Girl, Crystal Lucas Perry as Nancy Whitehead, Erica Shroeder as Tippy T. Squirrel, and several other voice actors. North is the podcast's writer and notes that he wants the narrative to be accessible to everyone regardless of their Marvel background knowledge. The Squirrel Girl podcast's synopsis teases appearances by Marvel heavyweights Iron Man and Spider-Man. Who exactly will potentially voice those characters is not yet known, but people will have to listen to the Squirrel Girl podcast in order to find out. The first episode of the six-episode series is available now on all podcast platforms. Listeners can also get access to the next episode on the SXM app or via a subscription to Marvel Podcasts Unlimited on Apple Podcasts, where they can also enjoy bonus content.
