A comeback story for Kim is needed as she isn't defined solely by her wacky moments. However, she is known for behavior that is far from the norm.
From using a vibrator as a neck massager to telling Lisa Vanderpump to stop playing psychologist to mimicking her fellow RHOBH with incoherent garbles, the odd antics often carried the show. However, they did paint her as a troubled soul. Kim has definitely had her ups and downs in life.
Kyle called out Kim's antics on the ride home at the end of season 1, with Adrienne Maloof caught in the middle. Kyle was angry that Kim got into it with many of the RHOBH again, and Kim called Kyle a phony. Kyle then cut deep by saying that their mother died worrying about Kim. After that, Kim claimed that Kyle stole her house, and Kyle shot back by claiming that Kyle's husband Mauricio Umansky took care of Kim financially, as though she were a second wife. Ultimately, Kyle laid down the law, stating, "You are a liar, and sick and an alcoholic. I've said it now everybody knows." Then, Kyle said she'd never help Kim again.
After a pivotal season 1 concluded, fan favorite Lisa Rinna became Kim's primary adversary. In Amsterdam, Lisa apologized for getting in Kim's business. Kim said she told them she was fine on the plane, and Lisa argued that they were all concerned about her. Then, Kim pulled Lisa's family into the mix, countering, "I'm concerned about you and your situation at home," before telling Lisa to eat some bread and calm down. Next, Kim followed up with, "let's talk about the husband." Lisa finished the argument in a fit of rage, hissing that "you never go after my f**king husband." After that, she threw her water in Kim's face and smashed the glass on the table with an epic flourish. The dig at Lisa's potential eating issues and the insinuation that Harry Hamlin had his own problems made the tension rise. The funniest part was Kyle fleeing the scene with her sweater flapping in the windy courtyard.
After the infamous fight, Lisa attempted to smooth things over with a gift for Kim's new grandchild. At the reunion, the stuffed bunny resurfaced. Kim said, "Well, hold on, Lisa, I brought the bunny because I never gave it to my grandson," claiming she thought it was better to return it than re-gift it. The look of deep hurt (and the teardrop rolling down Lisa's face) became iconic. When Kim tried to talk to Lisa backstage, she said, "That is the most humiliating thing that's ever happened to me, and I will not accept this. You are a sick woman." Kim argued that she was superstitious and didn't want the bunny's bad energy in her house.
While Andy claims Bravo paid for RHOBH's Kim's rehab, the fact that so much of the conflict surrounding Kim was regarding her potential substance abuse speaks to a darker side of Bravo. Is the network willing to exploit people's struggles to build a brand? In more recent and healthier years, Kim's honest demeanor put Denise Richards' sexuality under fire. Sometimes, Kim's larger-than-life behavior can be attributed to her substance abuse, and should not be made light of. At other times, Kim's wacky persona stands on its own. Without a doubt, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills wouldn't be the same without her.
