Caltrans has announced a 55-hour closure from the westbound 210 Freeway (the Foothill Freeway) to the westbound 118 Freeway connector. The connector to the westbound 118 Freeway will be fully closed.
The construction activity is for paving and is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. Friday, April 22 and go through to 5 a.m. on Monday, April 25 in the Pacoima area.
Closures are weather permitting and are subject to change in start and end times.
Lanes affected:
- Westbound 210 Freeway to westbound 118 Freeway connector (the connector will be fully closed);
- One lane closed between Osborne Street/Foothill Boulevard off-ramp and the 118 Freeway; and
- Westbound Paxton Street off-ramp.
Drivers may check Caltrans QuickMap for traffic alerts/conditions during the weekend: quickmap.dot.ca.gov.
Caltrans is also alerting residents and businesses in the area that they may experience dust, noise and vibrations due to the construction work during the weekend closure.
The construction on the 210 Freeway is part of a $135.5 million project that will replace all lanes with new pavement from Wheatland Avenue to the 5 Freeway. The goal of the project is to provide 40 years of service life to the pavement and a smoother ride for motorists.
The project is funded by Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
The project, covering 9.7 miles, includes an upgraded center median barrier, traffic loop detectors, a guardrail system and overhead sign structures.
The project is scheduled to run through summer 2023. Other communities affected by the construction include Lake View Terrace, San Fernando and surrounding unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County.
