Doctors Jenna Elgin and Shanna Alvarez shared a video on the Instagram, where they share tips on all things parenting.

While playtime is for relaxing and having fun with your little ones, it’s also the perfect opportunity to help them learn and grow.

“Sometimes we tend to pepper our kids with lots of questions.

“Unfortunately, all the questions are actually demands.”

Instead, the experts recommends describing what you see.

So, instead of asking what colour the toy dinosaur is, you can say ‘the dinosaur is red’.

“We can make this simple swap to provide positive attention and build connection without actually frustrating our kids,” they explained.

Although they add that asking your kids questions during playtime isn’t always bad, it places demands on them and detracts from play.

“It’s all about balance,” they add, explaining that if you do find yourself doing it, not to worry.

Not only that but don’t put pressure on yourself to play with them all day long.

ten minutes of one on one playtime is perfect.

Others agreed with the useful tip: “No kid wants to feel like they’re being interviewed.”
