The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent: 10 Other Roles Where You've Seen The Cast
The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent is the new action-comedy starring Nicolas Cage, who plays himself as he tries to cope with Hollywood's lack of interest in him as an actor. To make himself some money and feel better, he accepts a paid appearance at a mysterious man's house and gets entangled with the U.S. government as they try and take the mysterious man, played by Pedro Pascal.
The movie has a very unique premise and a star-studded cast, and many of these actors have appeared in some of Hollywood's biggest blockbusters.
In The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Cage has the challenge of playing a dramatized version of himself and confronting the fears of any actor in Hollywood.
Cage may have one of the longest resumés in Hollywood. He has starred in several movies worthy of sequels, including National Treasure, starring in both of the franchise's films. In the movies, his character, Ben, tries to solve America's greatest mysteries and reveal their secrets to the public. Both characters are game for an adventure at any moment.
Pedro Pascal stars in The Mandalorian when he's not stealing the show in The Book of Boba Fett. Star Wars fans know him as the lead role in the action-packed spin-off where Pascal is involved in crazy scenes with his pal, Grogu.
Unlike in The Mandalorian, where he plays a selfless hero, Pascal plays the villain in this film who is obsessed with Nic Cage and his career. Here, his role in this film is more akin to his character in The Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
Movie lovers know Tiffany Haddish as the wild best friend, Dina, in Girls Trip, whose primary goal is to ensure her friends have the best time possible on their trip. Haddish takes on her new role as Vivan, the CIA agent that tricks Nicolas Cage into a van to inform him that his new friend, Javi, is a wanted man.
Haddish provides comic relief in both films, even in difficult situations. However, in this film, she is less directly involved in the hijinx but still helps Cage navigate through his mission.
Sharon Horgan plays Olivia, the fictional ex-wife of Nicolas Cage, not to be confused with the in-movie actress, Olivia, played by Demi Moore. There isn't much known about Olivia yet as she doesn't appear in the trailer or is mentioned at all.
Horgan has a massive roster of credits as a show creator, writer, actor and more, but she appears in the movie Everyone is Talking About Jamie as the judgemental school teacher who has a habit of telling her students their career choices are wrong. Maybe Olivia also finds acting to be an impractical career, and that's why she divorced Cage?
Paco León plays Lucas Gutierrez, a friend of Javi who doesn't trust Cage. In the trailer, Lucas tells Javi that Cage is working with the CIA and is looking to bring down their criminal enterprise.
León appears confident, unlike his role in Kiki, Love To Love, a wild film that explores the different ways people want to experience love and arousal. In the movie, his character Paco is afraid to express his true desires to his partner, which leads them on a journey to spice up their relationship.
Neil Patrick Harris was a fan-favorite character in the long-running television sitcom, How I Met Your Mother. Barney was the ladies' man who was reluctant to settle down until he finally fell in love with his long-time friend, Robin. As much as Barney was a jerk at times, fans couldn't help but fall in love with the softer side of Barney that he showed later on in the show.
In his latest role, NPH plays Richard Fink. Fink is Cage's manager, who convinces him that a million dollars is worth showing up for to Javi's birthday party since Cage needs cash.
Lily Mo Sheen has already had a hand full of roles in her career despite her young age. In most of her parts, she plays someone's daughter, and in The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent, she plays Nicolas Cage's daughter. In a recent interview, Sheen detailed how, in the movie, her character gets frustrated with her father and yells at him.
Even though this is her first starring role, Sheen has done some bit parts in other movies. She appears in Everybody's Fine as a younger version of Kate Beckinsale's character, when she has flashbacks to her life as a child.
Demi Moore is a Hollywood megastar in her own right. She appeared in several blockbuster films in the 1990s, her most notable being G.I. Jane. G.I. Jane made a statement with its plot that centered around the sexism that women experience in the military, which wasn't well-received by everyone.
Her character, Lt. Jordan O'Neil, is chosen to be the first woman training for a combat position in the Navy. Everyone thinks she will fail, but she refuses to quit. All that is revealed about Moore's role in the Nic Cage film are some behind-the-scenes shots and her name, so fans of the actor will be no doubt excited to see what her character gets up to.
Fans of Netflix's most popular original show, Bridgerton, will recognize Nic Cage's therapist as the not-so-nice Lady Cowper. Like the other mothers in Bridgerton, Lady Cowper is determined to get her daughter a noble suitor by any means necessary.
In The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent, as Nicolas Cage's therapist, Bobin is much nicer and focuses on tackling the issues Cage is experiencing as his career takes a downturn. Instead of focusing on her own interests, like her character tends to in Bridgerton, Bobin is committed to her clients' goals and treatment.
Jacob Scipio has made the leap from children's show voice actor to actor movie star. Scipio plays one of Javi's men in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, who hunts for Nic Cage as he tries to access Javi's files for the CIA.
But this isn't Scipio's first action movie role -- he also played Armando Aretas in Bad Boys For Life. Like his current role, Scipio plays a villain with a strong liking for big weapons that can eliminate his targets in no time. However, he still plays the second fiddle to the movie's main villain, Isabel.
