0

It feels like The Batman is sure to gain a sequel and may even draw even more inspiration from the comics in regards to the gadgets the Caped Crusader might use. The source material has seen such a wide array of cool, inventive, and outright weird gadgets on that utility belt, but surely some of them might come in handy for future adventures.

This iteration of Batman definitely doesn't kill, so the gadgets discussed are all designed to complete the job as efficiently as possible. Batman has to adapt, which is what has been seen from the newest DC iteration of the character. These gadgets would help him evolve further to address any situation.

The exploding gel might have been seen in the Arkham series but it has also translated into the comics as well. It's not an offensive weapon used for blowing up an opponent but is instead used incredibly tactically by Batman. Right now he may be too inexperienced to use such a powerful device.

Under the right circumstances though, the gel can be used to weaken the structure of a building, perhaps using this as an effective offensive weapon without killing the enemy. It's also great for breaking into places and is much easier to transport on his belt than a grenade.

The Bat Eye is a huge, controllable device that lets Batman see the whole city. It's remotely operated and is shaped like a giant drone, somewhat similar to some of the droids seen in the Empire. It's a bulky piece of equipment but vital in the field.

It doesn't always travel with Batman but can be placed in the Batmobile. It's useful for scouting out an area before attacking and might be used in a Batman sequel in order to watch over the city. Lucious Fox is often responsible for keeping tabs on the device.

A taser is pretty conventional for Batman, but he has a few tricks up his sleeves. Or rather his gloves. Batman has actually had tasers built into his gloves in the past so that his fingertips will actually shock an enemy. It's a really useful gadget for quickly disarming an enemy.

Although it almost feels as if it's something that Joker might play around with, the taser gloves aren't used very often but are vital for Batman. Even when it seems like he's helpless, there are a few extra devices that he can trick an enemy with.

The Electrocutioner is a powerful villain that could appear as part of the HBO Max mythos in the future. If that is the case then Batman may be able to pick up one of his most useful gadgets. It's one that has appeared in video games and thus consequently in the spin-off comics.

Batman actually steals the electro gloves and uses them to his advantage. They send out a concussive blast that will shock the opponent and perhaps even dismantle their weaponry. It's a great way for Batman to bring his foe's skills into his arsenal.

By the end of the latest trilogy of films, Batman should have a sword fight at some stage. Based on the imagery of Zorro, sword duels have kind of become a must-have for many Caped Crusader narratives in the comics. That's happened less often on the screen though.

In the source material, Bruce Wayne has a sword that folds up, allowing him to store it away safely and then bring it out when he needs it most. It's a valuable device that has crossed blades with some of the worst criminals in Gotham, especially the League of Assassins.

The freeze grenades have taken on a few forms in the comics and video games. Fans might be most familiar with the variation based on Mr. Freeze's technology. The bombs essentially freeze on impact, creating an icy surface that could be potentially hazardous.

They are also able to freeze up weapons or even people, plus are useful when being utilized to break in somewhere that was previously impenetrable. They can even be used to help with injuries and thus are perhaps the bread and butter of a modern Batman.

The Batarang has been on screen in so many forms. Somehow the remote variation has barely had any kind of showing though. The fact is, it's the most vital of all the Batarangs in the Caped Crusader's utility belt. The precision of the device cannot be matched.

There is definitely a need for the more traditional Batarang as well, but in comparison, there are always very specific circumstances that require a device that Batman can have more control over. Is it realistic enough to appear in the current franchise?

It may seem completely weird but some powerful variants of Batman have had this really unique gadget built into their cowl. The vigilante has planned absolutely everything out so that he can survive any event, including situations like getting tied up.

The result of his plan is to create loaded ears, that shoot out as a dart from his head. While he may look silly afterward and the impact is small, they can make a real difference when needed. This is one of the most ridiculous gadgets for Batman and perhaps one that won't leave the page.

Batman usually glides across the sky, albeit perhaps so he doesn't get compared to the likes of Tony Stark any more than he has been. But rocket boosters have been known to adorn the uniform of the Dark Knight if he needs to jet away somewhere quickly.

Usually, Batman uses other methods of transport, but when flying across the sky his boots or his back have been given some kind of jet pack upgrade. This is a device that is often accompanied by a slightly different costume, but with the wingsuit in place on screen, maybe there will be a technological advancement for Bruce Wayne.

Perhaps it's not as much of a gadget as it is an extra-terrestrial device of great power, but Batman has stored various Lantern Rings away in the past as if they are just a part of his larger arsenal. It's not just the Green Lanterns he's used the abilities of either.

Maybe one day, as the DC Multiverse develops on-screen, the Dark Knight will be given these fantastic powers and utilize a ring in some capacity. It hasn't been seen on film yet and would very much clash with the tone of the current Batman, but why not take a huge risk?
