As French voters head back to the polls Sunday for France's runoff election, FRANCE 24 is joined by Joël Reland, Researcher at UK in a Changing Europe. Following a convincing debate performance, and maintaining a comfortable 10-point lead in the polls, Mr. Reland asserts that Macron is heavily favoured to win a second presidential term. "It looks like he is going to win. [During] the debate, he looked like a stronger candidate. Le Pen failed to land any real blows on him. So there might be a feeling that Macron has it in the bag," which might actually dissuade French voters who don't particularly like Macron from voting at all. "That's when there's a slight risk for Macron," warns Mr. Reland, "if enough people don't vote this Sunday." So, at this stage in the campaign, voter abstention remains Macron's biggest threat.
