Jayne Torvill left stunned after discovering she is related to West Ham football legend in ITV’s DNA Journey

WHEN Dancing On Ice judge and Olympic skater Jayne Torvill took part in DNA Journey, she didn’t expect to discover several sporty relatives – including her cousin Charlie Walker.

The footballer is among the pantheon of West Ham legends, which includes Sir Bobby Moore, for captaining the Irons when they won the War Cup – the wartime equivalent of the FA Cup – in 1940.

The ITV show, which is on Tuesday at 9pm, also investigates the relations of Jayne’s ice dance partner Christopher Dean.

His mum left the family home when he was a boy – and it turns out he now has many relations in Utah where his relatives moved as part of the Mormon faith.

The lucky cast will be flown out at the start of June for the programme’s first overseas trip in more than two years. And no expense has been spared.

A source said: “Towie is coming back with a bang.

“It’s been months in the planning and all the details were signed off today.

“It is the most flash trip they’ve ever done, but given that they have spent the last two years on home soil, the bosses wanted to give the stars and the fans a treat – though not everyone is going to get a ticket.

“It is by far the most exotic trip they have ever done, and the sandy white beaches of the Caribbean island will make a beautiful backdrop for any drama that unfolds.

“From Puerto Banus to Punta Cana, this is a Marbella glow- up of epic proportions. Those lucky enough to get a place on the plane are in for a treat.”

If I could stand to be near the show’s over-tanned “talent”, I’d be blagging a ticket too.

ARG'S TOM TRIBUTE

TOWIE’S JAMES ARGENT paid tribute to The Wanted singer Tom Parker on GMB, saying the star, who died of a brain tumour, helped him through his own tough times.

Arg attended Tom’s funeral on Wednesday and said: “There were really special, beautiful moments throughout the day.”

Caine in the neck

COMIC ROB BRYDON has recalled the first brush he had with one of his idols, movie star Sir Michael Caine.

The Gavin & Stacey actor was at a party where Sir Michael was holding court – but he wasn’t waxing lyrical about life in Hollywood. Instead, he was moaning about the bins.

In a Bill Bailey interview on YouTube, Rob said: “I was hoping it would be tales of the Riviera with Roger Moore or life in Hollywood.

Not a lot of people know the Tinseltown legend is so green.
