Hideo Kojima's Half-Life 3 & Silent Hill Make For Terrifying AI Art

0

A new AI art program has emerged and is being used to create truly unique, unsettling pieces, including some that feature Silent HillHalf-Life 3, and gaming legend Hideo Kojima. Both of these subjects have proven to be extremely influential and important in the world of video games, with Silent Hill still inspiring new games to this day.

It's no secret that in the world of gaming, Silent HillHalf-Life 3, and Hideo Kojima are three of the most discussed subjects. Fans have been waiting anxiously for the next official entry in the Half-Life series since Half-Life 2 was released back in 2004, with little more than player-created mods and the VR spin-off Half-Life Alyx to hold them over. A similar relationship can be seen between the gaming community and the Silent Hill franchise, which Kojima himself was set to reboot before his infamous split with Konami. Because of the immense popularity and icon status of these three subjects, they have seen no shortage of fan art, tributes, and support from the gaming world at large, with Kojima recently being honored with the Japanese Minister's Award for Fine Arts, a sign of his significance in the world of modern media and entertainment.

Game Awards host Geoff Keighley recently shared a series of images created through the AI art program Midjourney, and some of the results are a bit strange and unsettling. Some of these images stand out a bit more than others, such as "Hideo Kojima's Half-Life 3," which shows a distorted version of Kojima's likeness standing in some sort of wasteland. This eerie image is accompanied by several others, including "New Silent Hill Game," which looks to have assembled characteristics of certain Silent Hill monsters and locations to make something unrecognizable.

None of these subjects are strangers to fan art, with a recent fan edit hilariously putting Silent Hill protagonists Harry Mason and James Sunderland in the same scene. Still, few available pieces of fan art can prepare viewers for the images shared by Keighley, which may be seen as nearly disturbing enough to rival intentional pieces of horror from Silent Hill and Half-Life.

Regardless of whether someone feels frightened, amused, or some combination of the two when looking at these images, they are certainly interesting. It may be a while before the gaming world gets to see a new entry in the Half-Life or Silent Hill series, and things are pretty quiet on the news front when it comes to Hideo Kojima's new game, so these pictures can help stir the imagination in the meantime.
