Spawn Voice Actor Reveals The MCU Character He Wants to Play
Spawn voice actor Keith David reveals he'd like to make his way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the voice of character Beta Ray Bill. The Korbinite character first made his debut in the Marvel Comics with 1983's The Mighty Thor No. 337 as one of the last of his alien race who was designed to protect the near-extinct species in their quest to find a new galactic home after their galaxy is wiped out by the fire demon Surtur. Beta Ray Bill is initially introduced as a potential antagonist for Thor before his tragic backstory is quickly revealed and he is shown to be worthy enough to wield Mjolnir after defeating the Norse god on their initial meeting.
Odin initially orders a battle to the death between Thor and Beta Ray Bill in order to decide who would be the one to wield Mjolnir, with the latter narrowly winning though believing the former to be too worthy of an opponent to die. Odin would subsequently order a new hammer made for Beta Ray Bill with Stormbreaker from the same metal and dwarfs that created Mjolnir while removing the enchantment from the latter that would allow Thor to turn in to his human form of Donald Blake. Thor and Beta Ray Bill would go on to fight side by side with the Norse god in his various adventures, namely against Surtur, up until the former's demise when he brings about Ragnarök.
Journalist Chris Lovingood recently took to Twitter to ask Keith David about his interest in voicing Beta Ray Bill for the MCU. The Spawn voice actor not only confirmed he would be interested in playing the Marvel hero, but would do it in "a NY minute!" See David's response below:

Interestingly, Beta Ray Bill nearly made his MCU debut in recent history with Thor: Ragnarok in which he would have served as the original champion of Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster on the planet Sakaar. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige ultimately decided to remove the character from the early version of the film as he felt it didn't do Beta Ray Bill justice and confirmed the studio would return to the character at a later point in the MCU. Some have already begun theorizing that this later introduction come come in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder following the first trailer's reveal that Chris Hemsworth's hero and Taika Waititi's Korg return to Sakaar for an unknown reason, believing the shot of the two looking up at an unseen character could be for a taller version of Beta Ray Bill.
Given the events of Ragnarök have already occurred and Stormbreaker was forged for Thor in Avengers: Endgame, there are a number of reasons why Beta Ray Bill could make his way to the MCU in the near future. Additionally, with the new trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder showing the hero is prepared to leave his superhero days behind and burying Stormbreaker in an unknown location, it does seem possible that Beta Ray Bill could appear sometime soon, and given Marvel's renowned secrecy, it's understandable that if David had been cast for the role, he would have to only express a desire to portray the character. Only time will tell if the film acts as the character's springboard when Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on July 8.
