Scott Pilgrim VS The World director Edgar Wright shared a photo from a recent reunion with the film's lead actor Michael Cera. Wright directed the 2010 cult-classic adaptation of Bryan Lee O'Malley's graphic novel series. Cera starred as the guitarist-turned unlikely hero who had to prove his love for a mysterious new girl who moved to his hometown of Toronto, Canada.
Released in 2010, Scott Pilgrim VS The World took the eponymous character played by Cera on a journey from zero to hero. Cera's Scott is a guitarist in a small Canadian rock band thrown into a world of super-powered vegans, spectacular battles, and memorable villains when he meets Mary Elizabeth Winstead's Ramona Flowers. To earn the chance to be with Ramona, Scott must battle her seven evil exes on a ordeal that forces Scott to face his own shortcomings. A modern cult classic, Scott Pilgrim is beloved by both celebrity fans like Rachel Zegler and audiences across the globe for its quick-witted writing, energetic action and editing, memorable soundtrack and charming characters. Now, both its director and leading star have reunited in a new photograph.
Taking to his personal Instagram account, Wright shared a recent photo of him and Cera. In the image, Cera can be seen with his arm around Wrights shoulder while holding up a peace sign. Scott Pilgrim VS The World celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2020, where the director and cast marked ten years passing since it's original release on August 13th, 2010. To celebrate, Wright shared numerous behind-the-scene photographs on Instagram, featuring himself and cast members like Cera, Winstead, Brie Larson, and others throughout the films's production in 2009, giving fans a new look at the making of the cult classic. The film also returned to prominence in numerous forms across the following year in 2021, as alongside Ubisoft's rerelease of Scott Pilgrim VS The World: The Video Game on its tenth anniversary and the film's soundtrack receiving an expanded release, the film was re-edited and re-released in cinemas for a limited time.
Scott Pilgrim VS The World remains one of Wright's most beloved films, with an audience that has only grown since its release. The energetic action, striking visuals and well-written comedy earned the film a fond place in fans' hearts, so many are sure to find joy seeing Wright and Cera's reunion. Though Netflix and O'Malley are working on a new Scott Pilgrm animated adaptation, Wright and Cera's cult film remains one of the most beloved releases among this era of comic book movies.
