Barry season 3 will feature mostly the same cast of characters as the show's previous seasons. HBO's Barry follows the life of the mild-mannered Barry Berkman, a military veteran-turned-hitman who aspires to be an actor in Hollywood and leave his troubled past behind. The cast of Barry is among the most star-studded of HBO Max's 2022 original releases.
Barry season 2 ends with the title character raining hell on the Chechens as he pursues his former handler Monroe Fuches, a massacre which Chechen mobster NoHo Hank miraculously survives. Meanwhile, Barry's acting mentor Gene Cousineau recalls what Funches whispered to him when they saw the dead body of Detective Janice Moss in the woods: “Barry Berkman did this.” Amid this chaos, Barry's fellow actor and girlfriend Sally Reed finally starts getting recognized as a serious actor – while still having no idea about Barry's still-rising kill count.
Barry and the rest of the main cast will be picking up where they left off more than 3 years since the ending of Barry season 2. Alongside other darkly comedic, anti-hero-driven crime series like Ozark, Better Call Saul, The Sopranos, and Breaking Bad, Barry stands out for being the one that takes comedy seriously, a surreal take that also surprisingly succeeds at producing a compelling drama. It certainly helps that the cast of Barry is filled with veterans from both genres.
Barry Berkman has made a good living by using his military skills as a killer-for-hire. He's also slowly getting better at acting. HBO's Barry circles around the titular character's struggle to maintain this double life while avoiding the law. Apart from being Barry's star, Bill Hader is also the show's creator, alongside co-creator and co-writer Alec Berg. Hader is perhaps most famous for his various comedic characters in the long-running sketch show Saturday Night Live. Bill Hader also appears in Stephen King's It, Noelle, and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.
The U.S. military taught Barry how to be an efficient killer. However, Monroe Fuches is the one responsible for turning Barry into a killer-for-hire. Stephen Root is a prominent character actor who also appears in The Tragedy of Macbeth, Queenpins, and Happily.
Sally Reed is Barry's love interest. They met in an acting class headed by Gene Cousineau, a veteran Hollywood actor. Although Barry and Sally had a rough start, the two end up steadily dating. Actor Sarah Goldberg also appears in The Night House, The Report, and The Hummingbird Project.
Gene Cousineau is an aging actor who's dedicated to teaching his craft to the next generation of aspiring stars. Gene finds out from Fuches that it was Barry who killed Gene's lover, Detective Janice Moss. Actor Henry Winkler is a Hollywood legend best known for playing “The Fonz” in Happy Days. Winkler has a voice cameo in 2022's Scream, and was in the cast of the original 1996 slasher film. Winkler also appears in Family Squares, The French Dispatch, and Arrested Development.
NoHo Hank barely knows how to handle himself in a fight. However, Hank's social skills and survival instincts make him a crucial high-ranking member of the Chechen mob in LA. Anthony Carrigan is best known for his role as Victor Zsasz in Gotham. Carrigan also appears in Fatherhood and Bill & Ted Face the Music.
Sarah Burns as Detective Mae Dunn: After the death of the detectives that came too close to discovering that Barry is at the center of the recent killings, Detective Mae Dunn picks up where her predecessors left off. Actor Sarah Burns also appears in Immoral Compass, Eat Wheaties!, and the 2021 comedic horror movie Werewolves Within.
Michael Irby as Cristobal Sifuentes: While NoHo Hank runs the Chechen mob in LA, Cristobal Sifuentes heads the Bolivians, and both factions have a complicated relationship with Barry. Actor Michael Irby also appears in Mayans M.C., The Expanse, and SEAL Team.
Jessy Hodges as Lindsay Mandel: Sally's struggle to make it in Hollywood takes a positive turn when she gets the attention of casting agent Lindsay Mandel, who opens doors for both Barry and Sally's acting careers. Apart from Barry, actor Jessy Hodges also appears in The Big Leap, Indebted, and Hindsight.
