Covid surge forces Chinese Taipei to drop AFC Cup group hosting
April 25 – Chinese Taipei has pulled out of hosting AFC Cup 2022 Group J matches in Tainan due to a surge in the number of coronavirus cases in the country.
The centralised group games had been scheduled for East Zone clubs to be played June 24 to 30.
“The AFC acknowledged the challenges caused by the evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic and the travel restrictions imposed as a result of the growing cases in Chinese Taipei,” said the regional governing body in a statement.
