I’m a tanning whizz…here’s how I avoid orange fake tan hands and why it’s all about using the right tools

A TAN duo has revealed how to apply fake tan properly to avoid the infamous orange hands.

Fake tan is a godsend to those who live in colder climates yet still want to achieve that sunkissed glow without having to sit in the sun or visit sunbeds – but if not applied properly, it can also leave you with bright orange hands.

The tutorial has been liked by close to 120,000 people on TikTok

Luckily, a pair of Aussie gurus, the Hondrou twins, have shared an easy tutorial so you’d avoid walking around with patchy fingers several shades darker than the rest of your body.

Taking it to TikTok, the beauty lovers, Victoria and Jacqui, revealed their top tips in a video which has since gone viral, with almost three million views.

Starting off with pale hands, the two gurus applied what appeared to be a generous amount of dark fake tan before spreading out evenly.

Here, they emphasised, it’s important to use a brush – the Aussies used one by the brand 2BTanned.

The brush, which currently is on sale for £10.80, is the ”perfect tool to achieve a streak free, flawless tan”.

Shaped to follow the natural curves of the face and designed with with high quality soft bristles, the brush, the brand claimed, is ”ideal for applying and blending” the tanning product.

”Make sure to brush it down the forearm if there’s extra tan there,” the pros said.

In order for your hands to come out evenly tanned, you should also use the brush on the inner sides of your fingers.

Then, once done, simply use your other hand to go over one more time to ensure everything is ”perfectly covered”.

However, according to the viral clip, you should also remember to wear a rubber glove – this will prevent you other hands form soaking up all the leftover product and going orange.

But although the twins swore by this trick and described the results as ”pretty good”, critics were not to so convinced, with some insisting it would do the opposite.

”No no no no [sic]. This is how you get orange hands,” commented one person.

”You should put less tan on your hands than your arm as the tan sticks to them.”

A fellow beauty lover agreed, adding: ”My hands would be horrible if I did that.

”I have to put lotion on before, and after I have to wipe excess off my Knuckles and wrist.”
