Why Misha Collins Is Excited About His Gotham Knights Role
Supernatural star Misha Collins talks about why he is so excited about his upcoming role on Gotham Knights. The CW is expanding its DC TV lineup once again, this time with another Batman-related project following the addition of Batwoman in 2019. Announced late last year, The CW is working on a Gotham Knights series from the writers and producers of Batwoman. Despite their involvement, Gotham Knights has nothing to do with Batwoman, and it isn't based on the upcoming video game of the same title.
Gotham Knights centers on the titular city's next generation of protectors, as Bruce Wayne's adoptive son and several children of Batman villains form a team. After they get framed for Batman's murderer, these unexpected heroes will be forced to clear their names, while also becoming vigilantes themselves. One of the leading stars of the potential series is Misha Collins, best known for portraying Castiel on Supernatural. After having played the beloved angel for more than ten years, Collins is boarding Gotham Knights as DC Comics' Harvey Dent, a.k.a. Two-Face.
At this year's Supernatural NJ Con 2022 (via RhiannonNymph,) Collins speaks a bit more about Gotham Knights. When asked about upcoming projects he's excited about, he chats about The CW drama and his involvement with it. After having played Castiel on Supernatural for multiple seasons, Collins is thrilled about playing someone like Harvey, who is completely different from his previous role. Check out his full quote below:
I'm excited about the new show I'm working on, Gotham Knights. I'm excited to play a totally different character. I'm actually finding that I'm kind of excited to spend some time in a different city and get to know a new city and actually spend a little bit of time on my own, which is not something that I've done a lot of. So I'm kind of excited about the inner journey that that's going to bring with it.
Collins' Harvey is part of a large cast of characters, as Gotham Knights will also star Oscar Morgan as Turner Hayes, Navia Robinson as Carrie Kelley, Tyler DiChiara as Cullen Bow, Fallon Smythe as Harper Row, Olivia Rose Keegan as Duela, Anna Lore as Stephanie Brown, and Rahart Adams as Brody. While Keegan's Duela didn't have her last name listed for her casting, it's almost a guarantee that the DC drama will reveal the Dent connection between her and Harvey. Even though most Gotham Knights plot details are being kept under wrap, Collins has confirmed that he won't become Two-Face for at least one season.
The Gotham Knights pilot is expected to film for a few more weeks before a cut is turned into The CW, which will then decide if the show goes to series or not. While The CW Upfronts are set for May 19, Gotham Knights is one of four DC TV projects the network is considering for the next TV season. Even though The Flash and Superman & Lois have been renewed, Batwoman, Legends of Tomorrow, and Naomi's fates are still up in the air. If recent reports are accurate, The CW is expected to only add two more DC properties for the next season, with Gotham Knights likely meant to be one of them.
