Planet Hulk Cosplay Makes His Impossible Body A Reality
In an epic cosplay that shows off the pure size and power of Gladiator King Hulk from Planet Hulk, the larger-than-life hero gets an ensemble that captures one of the Jade Giant's most epic looks. At FanExpo Philadelphia, cosplayer John Paul Day debuted his epic Hulk-sized cosplay, which makes the Marvel Comics hero's impossible body a reality, in a costume that needs to be seen to be believed.
The Hulk has always been one of the strongest and most intimidating heroes in the Marvel Comics universe, but he became something even more powerful during the events of Planet Hulk by Greg Pak, Carlo Pagulayan, Aaron Lopresti, Jeffrey Huet, Randy Gentile, Joe Garamanga, and Chris Sotomayor. In the story, the Illuminati decided the Hulk was too dangerous to exist on Earth so they send the hero into space, which leads him to end up on the planet Skaar. Fighting in a gladiator arena, the Hulk eventually becomes the alien world's champion, leads a rebellion against Skaar's oppressive regime, and becomes king himself. However, the story would end in tragedy, resulting in Hulk returning to Earth to get revenge on the Illuminati in the next arc, World War Hulk. The story was loosely adapted in Thor: Ragnarok in the MCU.
On his Instagram account, cosplayer and costume designer John Paul Day debuted his take on the Hulk from Planet Hulk by Marvel Comics. Day wore the look at FanExpo Philadelphia, sporting an impressive cosplay that shows off the sheer size of the hero. The cosplay looks great, as the comic-accurate costume gets the details of the Gladiator King Hulk to life, including his armor, giant battle-axe, sword, and costume. Check out the massive Hulk below.
The Hulk costume and cosplay is massive, but that seems to be Day's speciality. The talented cosplayer has helped design some incredible looks, including bringing Thor's Beta Ray Bill and the X-Men's Cable, to life. In this case, the Planet Hulk version of the Jade Giant looks amazing, as the face-sculpt and costume are fantastic, while Day does a great job getting the hero's size down perfectly.
The entire Planet Hulk-inspired look is spectacular, as it had to take Day a considerable amount of time to assemble the costume, while making it as big as he could. The end result is a cosplay that not only captures the look of the Hulk from Planet Hulk, but manages to do so without needing to downsize the hero. It's quite an achievement.
