BREAKING: Elon Musk Secures Deal to Purchase Twitter

Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk reached a deal with Twitter Monday to purchase the social media platform for a whopping $44 billion. 

“Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” Musk said in a statement.

Following the news, Twitter’s shares were up about 6 percent.
