Final Fantasy XIV: 10 Amazing Mounts (& How To Get Them)
With the release of even more Endwalker content, Final Fantasy XIV players have a ton of story to chug through. Understandably, exploring the entire game takes time, and when going through all that story, players will want a cool mount to ride on.
There are some mounts in particular that have great designs, and the best ideally have a great theme or flying animation. The mounts can easily be obtained before Endwalker so that players can grab them before the newest expansion. What are the best rides that FFXIV has to offer?
Fenrir is a mystical wolf mount that can be obtained at the Golden Saucer by spending 1 Million MGP at the exchange. Fenrir's flying animation features beautiful ice crystals beneath it.
Doing daily and weekly Cactpot tickets, as well as the GATE events every 20 minutes, is the best way to farm up for Fenrir. It'll be worth it in the end, as players can obtain the fierce creature before they've even beaten A Realm Reborn. The only downside to Fenrir is his generic riding theme.
Nightmare is a shadowy unicorn that can be obtained at a very low drop rate by doing the extreme trials for the first 3 Primals in the game.
Grinding trials over and over can be taxing, but the result is a beautiful mount with a unique green spectral animation. Nightmare doesn't have a special theme to write home about, but that doesn't take away from how sleek its design is and how boldly it stands out in the Final Fantasy landscape.
The Disembodied Head can be acquired with 10 Gelmorran Potsherds, purchased from playing Palace of the Dead. The Potsherds can be exchanged with E-Una-Kotor in Quarrymill.
Palace of the Dead's early floors aren't the hardest thing in the game to conquer, even solo, and any player that wants to grind out the head will be able to. The reward is one of the strangest and most unique mounts in the game, despite being equipped with the standard riding theme.
Heavensward is arguably the most celebrated expansion in XIV and Square Enix games as a whole. A chance at the drop will come with each defeat of Ravana, the first primal in Heavensward.

Fans enjoying the fantastic Final Fantasy storyline of Heavensward will eventually run into the Midgardsormr mount in the Main Scenario Quest Fetters of Lament.
The mount is one of the most meaningful in the story, and not many mounts are cooler than dragons. Midgardsormr is one of the Warrior of Light's greatest helpers in Heavensward, and although it's a fantastic steed, Midgardsormr would be an even greater mount if he had a unique theme song.

Chocobos are one of the most loved and desired parts of Final Fantasy. It doesn't feel like Final Fantasy without Chocobos, and the Parade Chocobo is among the best of them. The way the player makes the Chocobo run by dangling a cabbage above his head is brilliant, and the theme is humorous as well. Plus, it's hard to imagine a cuter ride.

Sabotender is arguably the funniest mount in the entire game, and might just be worth its astonishing price tag.
