American Idol: What Randy Jackson Is Up To In 2022 | Screen Rant

0

Leader of the "dawg pound" and the longest serving American Idol judge Randy Jackson departed the singing competition show in 2013, and he has been keeping busy this year. After 12 years, Jackson cited focusing on his own business ventures as the reason for leaving the judging panel, and he has certainly stayed true to his word. He continues to dominate the music industry, but has also expanded into the health and fitness market. AI fans were overjoyed to hear that Randy, along with fellow original judge Paula Abdul would return for an American Idol Reunion.

Randy entered the music industry in the 1980s, as a musician playing with artists like Journey, Bob Dylan, and Aretha Franklin. He then became a music producer, most notably working with Mariah Carey before becoming a record label executive at Columbia and MCA Records. It was his role as the firm, yet fair and lovable judge on American Idol that skyrocketed him to international fame. Now, it's time to see what Randy has been up to lately.

Randy has gone through a health and fitness journey, both during and after his Idol days. He was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and has since gotten gastric bypass surgery and lost over one hundred pounds. Randy, who made millions on American Idol, started his own wellness brand called Unify Health Labs. The company's mission is to "help  people reclaim their health, so they can live their life to the fullest." Unify Health Labs sells a wide variety of supplements and vitamins. See a recent clip of Randy below, which shows off the results of his wellness journey:

Randy continues to produce music and manage up and coming artists like Paper Tongues. He even rejoined Journey as their bassist. He had a radio program which was syndicated by Westwood One, Randy Jackson's Hit List. In terms of charitable endeavors, he's performed on behalf of the American Heart Association, We Are The World 25 for Haiti, and the World's Big Sleepout.

Currently, the American Idol alum Randy is the bandleader for another music competition show, Name That Tune. It's hosted by Jane Krakowski and pits contestants against one another to test their musical trivia skills. Randy still stays true to his American Idol roots. He appeared via Facetime in American Idol season 19 to mentor the contestants. One fun fact is that Paula Abdul was filling in for Luke Bryan that week, as he was out with COVID-19. Idol fanatics consider that a mini reunion, ahead of the big reunion at American Idol 20.
