Pokémon GO: A Mega Moment Event Guide | Screen Rant
The new A Mega Moment event in Pokémon GO features Special Research Tasks, bonuses, and a Mega Kangaskhan raid day. The event starts on Friday, April 29, 2022, at 10:oo am local time, and it ends on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at 8:00 pm local time. The Pokémon GO Special Research tasks can be completed at any time, but the Mega Kangaskhan raid day bonuses will only be available on Sunday, May 1, 2022, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
The Special Research will be accessible to any trainer that's level five or higher, and the tasks are generally very easy to complete. During the Mega Kangaskhan raid day event, players will be able to collect up to five Raid Passes by spinning Gym Stops, and there's also an increased chance to encounter a Shiny Kangaskhan after winning a raid in Pokémon GO. Additionally, Kangaskhan Mega Energy will be earned for winning raids against Mega Kangaskhan.
Throughout the event, there will also be an increase in wild encounters with Pokémon that can be Mega Evolved in Pokémon GO. There are eight Pokémon that will be affected by the increased spawn rate, and players also have a small chance to encounter the Shiny version of each one. Any Pokémon that's Mega Evolved during the event will also receive a CP boost, but only one Mega Pokémon can be active at a time.

There are four steps to completing A Mega Moment's Special Research, and finishing every task will give players the chance to Mega Evolve a Pokémon of their choice. After completing the first step, players will be presented with a branching choice. Choosing either Venusaur, Charizard, or Blastoise will determine what Pokémon GO Mega Candy is received as a reward for some of the tasks. Once a Pokémon is chosen, it can't be changed.
- Catch 3 Pokémon: Bulbasaur encounter

- Catch 3 Pokémon: Squirtle encounter
- Rewards: 500 XP, 200 Stardust, and PokéBall x10
- Branching choice: Choose Venusaur, Charizard, or Blastoise to continue the Special Research
- Catch 5 Pokémon: PokéBall x10
- Use 5 Berries to help catch Pokémon: Great Ball x10
- Power up Pokémon 5 times: Razz Berry x10
- Rewards: Mega Candy x200, Premium Battle Pass, and Venusaur/Charizard/Blastoise Encounter
- Earn 5 Hearts with your buddy: Mega Candy x50
- Power Up Pokémon 5 Times: Mega Candy x50
- Mega Evolve Venusaur/Charizard/Blastoise: Charged TM
- Rewards: 1,000 XP, 600 Stardust, and Mega Candy x100
- Win a Raid: Revive x6
- Defeat a Team GO Rocket Grunt: Pokémon GO Silver Pinap Berries x2
- Take a snapshot of your buddy: Hyper Potion x6
- Rewards: 2,000 XP, 1,500 Stardust, and Mega Candy x100
Completing all four steps for A Mega Moment's Special Research will give players a variety of rewards, including enough Mega Candy to evolve the Pokémon they selected for their branching choice. Completing the Special Research early will help prepare players for Mega Kangaskhan raid day on May 1. Although Kangaskhan is only weak against Fighting-type Pokémon, Mega Venusaur, Mega Charizard, and Mega Blastoise can still deal a decent amount of damage. A Mega Moment will be active in Pokémon GO until Sunday, May 1, 2022, at 8:00 pm local time.
